Do the Hollywood people specifically dislike cats?

A huge number of Hollywood movies contain either seemingly
pointless and distasteful cat jokes or cats getting hurt.

Well it's a scientifically proven fact that cats are jerks and it only makes sense that movies, which usually depict real life accurately, would depict the true nature of cats.

I hate cats i never understand why people like them. They’re lazy and don’t really have a sentient connection to humans like dogs do. With the exception of the poodle and chihuahua, dogs are the superior animal.

That couldn’t be further from the truth. You just don’t know how to be gentle and patient. Dogs are draining with their dependence on others to entertain and lead them.

Cats are good asshole detectors. Not the cats themselves, what do they know, but any human who rants about how much they hate cats is guaranteed to be an asshole! I'm okay with people who aren't into cats, or who don't understand them, but anyone who expresses an irrational hatred for cats is going to be absolute scum.

Hollywood is, of course, full of human scum.

It's fine to dislike cats, but if you were gonna mention in a conversation that you don't like dogs you may as well just say that you touch kids. The reaction is about the same.

The only film in your list that I remembered the cat was "Vacation." I also vaguely remember "Breakfast at Tiffany's" where the dude tossed a cat out of the car into the rain...

I think Cats are just Misunderstood. Ripley had a Cat in Alien who wasn't portrayed negatively. I always wanted to see the Key and Peele movie "Keanu" from a few years back but haven't gotten around to it as the whole plot revolved around a kidnapped cat.

Nah, I think they're just prone to overusing a joke or trope. Plenty of positive cat representation, from Homeward Bound to A Streetcat Named Bob.
