This kind of reminds me of Boxcar Bertha (1972), and the cast includes Brendan Fraser as well as Jesse P. Lemons, so it'll probably be pretty good.
shareIt looks like a woke hatefest against the evil white man. And I have no problem with that. We did the Injuns wrong.
Not really interested though. It looks a bit dry.
there are such things as evil white men.
shareYeah I know. We fucked the indigenous Americans over. I just don't feel like watching a morality play. But mainly, like I said, it looks too dry from the trailer. I mean first of all, 1920's out West, not a real interesting setting.
shareMuch has been said about the savagery of the American Indian. I once read a very detailed book titled, In the Spirit of Crazy Horse. A passage stands out in my memory in which the author wrote of cavalry soldiers decimating entire villages of peaceful tribes, the soldiers playing catch with the severed breasts of the women. No less savage or evil!
shareDangle the near possibility of fabulous wealth in front of a crowd of white people, and you WILL see a lot of them turn evil.
Same for almost every other race or people on Earth, but apparently not the Osage. If any of them ever did anything bad to any of their fellow tribe members for money, it wasn't mentioned in the book.
One word: Scorsese
Looks like a tedious western with glitzy direction, definitely not my thing.
shareI might watch it if I come across it on one of my streaming apps. This story has already been portrayed in one of the vignettes in The FBI Story with Jimmy Stewart.
sharea vignette is not a movie.
shareI am fully aware that a vignette is not a movie. My comment was intended to mean that the story in a shortened form has been done before, I have seen it, and the result is I know the outcome of the case that will be solved in Killers of the Flower Moon leading to less desire to put it on my must-see list.
sharei knew how to kill a mockingbird ended but that didn't take away from the movie or the performances.
