I have a love/hate relationship with casinos

Yesterday I went to a concert of the legendary French singer Michel Fugain (now 80 years old!). Concert was a 9.5/10, just amazing.

Then we played casino, which I enjoy doing once every 5 years or so.

Thing is, I always lose my $ after a few hours of thrills and fun. I mostly play roulette and put 60$ on the table. I was going pretty well but then we got 8 Blacks in a row so after losing a bit, we all bet on red. I put 10$. Then another black! Then I Bet 15$ on red. Then another black!! We all started to get annoyed but couldn’t believe Red wouldn’t come. So I put the last 20$ on Red again and… we got black. 11 blacks in a row. I didn’t stay to see what came next.

Fuck you blacks.

the odds of 8 blacks (or reds) in a row is 1/256 or ~4/1000. I tink youse got palookahd.

However, no matter how many blacks (or reds) in a row previously, the odds' of the next turn being black (or red) are always 50/50.

i.e. Your strategy was, well, flawed. ;)

Yeah, I was playing captain obvious. But some of these folks may not know the rudiments.

For them, the odds of 8 red (or black) in a row are :
1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/256

This could also be a game at the casino - betting on consecutive color events - if they wanted to do so.

It's always been my favorite color. I go with 2 or 22 black on roulette.
