HAVE YOU EVER FIRED A GUN?

OF ANY KIND IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE?

reply

Once or twice.

Signed, million man.

reply

NEVER A REAL ONE BUT BLANK, CAP AND BB.

reply

Just a 22 rifle as a kid. That ended when we moved to Toronto.

reply

Just pellet guns.

I've gotten this far without ever needing a gun, I hope to make it through the rest of my years the same way.

reply

Yes. I have a few old milsurp bolt actions I like to exercise a few times a year (A Lee Enfield and two South American Mausers.) The calibers are kind of obscure, so it can get expensive, especially as of late.

reply

Old war time bolt actions are fun. I have one in 7.62x54r that has a hammer and sickle stamped in the barrel. 👍

reply

Agreed! A Mosin Nagant is the only acceptable reason to own something with the hammer/sickle on it haha.

reply

Ahhhhh-ha!!! I was testing you and you passed! 🤣

reply

Nice!
I don’t own any war surplus weapons but I’d like to.

I had the chance to buy an Italian Bolt Action 6.5 mm Carcano rifle for 60 bucks some years ago but the guy selling it didn’t have the stripper clips to go with it so I took a skip.
I kind of regret not buying that rifle.

The Carcano was alleged to have a sloppy action but I worked that bolt a few times and it felt real smooth, the sights were iron and well laid out.

Damn, I should have bought that gun:/

reply

Ouch. It might not be the most desirable milsurp rifle, but I would have gladly scooped one up at that price.

I can't speak on the action since I've never handled with, but that's the gun Oswald used to take out Kennedy. He bought it out of a catalog for $20.

reply

Yeah, it was the ‘Oswald Rifle’ and apparently pretty damned effective.

I could kick myself for not buying it but it was the early internet days and where the heck could you find stripper clips for an old Italian Army gun back then?

They have a pretty big flea market near me about six times a year in the warm months, there’s always a few guys selling rifles and shotties out of the back of their vans and pickups.

Next time I see a Carcano 6.5 mm I’m buying it.

reply

If it was that long ago, the price might have been on point. These old guns used to be a dime a dozen, but the prices have really shot up in the last decade or so. The days of $100 rifles are gone.

reply

I handled a Japanese Arisaka WWII bolt action in my hands once. That dude wanted $75 for it but he didn’t have the bayonet so I didn’t go for it.
Nice little carbine with wood stocks.

That was a pretty smooth bolt action. That’s another one I should have bought. But like the Carcano it was a weird caliber…6.5 mm was not easy ammo to find at the time.

reply

Those were the days for sure. I think it was SKSs that used to be in boxes in gun stores in the 90s for 100.00 a piece. Ammo was so damn cheap back then too.

reply

Nope, just cap guns and water pistols for me. No complaints though.

reply

Oooh, I forgot about water pistols!

reply

They're such fun. Oh, and bubble guns, they're the best, especially when you buy them for kids that aren't yours and watch the parents lose it as soap goes everywhere while the kids are having the times of their lives, it's a win-win.

reply

Nah, I've never hired a gun, so no need to fire one. 🤭😜
