This site has been messing around with us lately.

It keeps going down the last few days. Today it went down for 4 hours, then up for a few minutes, then back down. I blame Kowalski. His ugliness sent a shockwave that ruined the interwebs and killed a few birds along the way. You should all air your grievances toward him.

reply

I agree, Kowalski is the culprit. He is always up to no good.

reply

Something so hideous should not be allowed to walk the streets.

reply

Agreed. Perhaps we should pass a law that requires him to wear a paper bag over his head when he walks outside.

reply

Poor paper bag.

--Michael D. Clarke

reply

Damn Michael, you too? I'm starting to feel bad for Kowalski.
Having said that, LULZ :)

reply

Yah, I didn't like the fact that I had to sign back in. I had to dig through all my papers trying to find where I wrote the password for this place.

reply

Same thing happened to me. Though I have it stored in my browser, it didn't remember it & I had to reset it since I couldn't remember it.👿

reply

I was logged out too. I don't think I've had this happen on this site before unless I log out myself.

reply

Okay, maybe you didn't make all of it up.

reply

Just saw this now after my last response.

reply

🤣😜

reply

It was the Chinese.

reply

It was the CIA pretending to be the Chinese.

reply

reply

Engrish mothafucka, do you speak it?

reply

That must explain that white balloon hovering over my house.

reply

Jong-Un Kim discovered we were mocking him.

reply

I hope MC survives. Filmboards is a very unpleasant place.

reply

The architecture of that site is wonderful. One great feature is you can synch your imdb profile with it, so even when people respond to your old imdb posts, you get notified.

The problem is, so much nasty trollishness and apparently no moderation to speak of.

MC, otoh, is architecturally minimalist, to say the least, also a more limited user community. But more intimate, a far greater quality of poster, trolls removed by consistent, diligent moderation.

So on balance, this site gets the win. I don't really want to split my film-related posting between the new sites - so I accept the limitations and continue on here - the only attraction of the other site for me would be the possibility of film commentary present there, lacking here.

reply

MC would be 90 times better if they would let us post images and videos directly to the site. That's my only complaint about MC if I was to nitpick. Oh and Kowalski of course.

reply

Please no. MCs simplicity is better than the dizzying clutter on the other sites.

I guess I'm the only one who likes Kowalski.

reply

I imagine the both of you leaning back on the couch with your arms around each other. You're both cheers'ing the half cookie you split after a circle jerk.

reply

Picking on a poster because he uses all caps is an odd form of bigotry.

reply

To be fair...the insult was meant for both of you.

reply

Insults, aka: trolling, is boring and juvenile.

Kowaski found a unique way to make his posts standout graphically without videos or images. I don't believe he should be persecuted for being different. Furthermore, I don't believe he caused MCs outage. I believe it was the negativity and hatred of posters like yourself which caused a Twilight Zone-type phenomenon.

reply

LOL you are the only troll and puppeteer here...everyone knows it! You are the most hateful and despicable human here. You actually wish physical harm on any Republican and #45. You also side with groomers and pedophiles. Please go make your fake post and pretend caring for someone else. Kowaski doesn't give a shit what any of us think of her. The princess is too simple to care.

YOU'RE DEFENDING HER LIKE YOU'RE FRIENDS OR EVEN WANTS YOUR HELP. I DON'T THINK YOU TWO EVER FRIENDLY BANTERED ONCE...TALK ABOUT TROLLING!

reply

Wait, Kowalski is a woman?

reply

He is definitely a little princess. She's the type of fella that would be ecstatic if you gifted her a My Little Pony.

reply

Be careful, you're misgendering them/her/him/zim/zer/xer/xim. You're going to be canceled.

reply

Your delusional rant is amusing.

Your all caps mimicry is, also! Imitation is the best flattery.

reply

If I'm playing the part that is delusional...you're playing the part that is the delusion. You're not even real, guy.

reply

Some people deserve to be persecuted.

reply

I like Kowalski too. He’s a top 5 poster for sure.

reply

Is today International Tell a Lie Day?

reply

No, that was yesterday.

reply

So why are you lying today?

reply

Kowalski gives me candy and kisses to say nice things about him.

reply

Candy I can understand, but kisses?

reply

Kowalski gives good kisses.

reply

Of course you would like him, woke recognize woke.

reply

Woke just means not racist, ClosedMind.

reply

No, woke means sanctimonious, hyper-moralizing, virtue-signaling, tribalistic, cultish authoritarian who glorifies, and is obsessed with, identity, diversity, inclusion, and equity to the point of being absurd. They're so anti-racist that they love everyone except white people, especially straight white men. So much for not racist.

reply

Nope!

"The meaning of WOKE is aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)." - Merriam-Webster dictionary

Your post is a whiny, racist diatribe. Not a definition.

reply

No, that is the original definition of "woke". I'm using the contemporary definition that refers to a specific ideology and phenomenon in our contemporary culture.
In case you didn't know, languages evolve, definitions of words aren't static, we need words to refer to the phenomenon of cancel culture, political correctness, and SJWs. "Woke" takes the commonality between all those things and refers to that, because all the people who do or are those things referred to themselves as woke. All anti-woke people are doing is referring to these people using their own word, the only difference is that we are using it pejoratively, in order to mock them for being unhinged puritanical zealots.

reply

The original definition is the correct one. Your racist KKK rebrand attempt is irrelevant BS.

reply

There is no "correct" "one". They are both useful definitions. A definition is correct if the word is useful. My definition is useful. You dolt.

reply

The original is correct.

Your racist gaslighting BS rebrand is irrelevant.

reply

There are many definitions and they are all correct. There is the original definition and the contemporary definition. You can see examples and explanations of them in the Urban Dictionary:
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Woke

By the way, I also submitted my definition of "woke" to the Urban Dictionary and it is being reviewed now. It should be available soon.

reply

No need to change the term since you can simply say racist. Ex. ClosedMind is a racist. HIs ignorance is the reason he will never be woke.

reply

Oh, you're back?
Why are you racist against white people?

yes?

reply

ClosedMind:
"It was the CIA pretending to be the Chinese."
"Engrish mothafucka, do you speak it?"

You're projecting your racism.

reply

You're projecting your racism.

You say that like it's supposed to mean something to me.
The only "people" who call me a racist, are Wokies. I don't even consider Wokies to be human beings. Their opinion doesn't matter. They don't matter.

reply

ClosedMind?
Wow, did you think of that all by yourself? Bravo!
I have to say, your razor-sharp wit is truly something to behold, like a polished gemstone, gleaming with the brightness of ignorance and the fire of stupidity.
Fail.

reply

It's not about being witty. It's about honesty. You have a very ClosedMind as our previous discussion about remote viewing showed.

reply

I have an open mind, but not so open that my brain falls out.
You should consider developing some critical thinking skills and scientific literacy.

reply

You really don't.

reply

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c
...And your opinion is invalid.

reply

Your CloseMinded opinion is less valid.

reply

Engage in whatever coping mental gymnastics you deem necessary to soothe your troubled mind.

p.s.
When you say something is less invalid you're saying that it is more valid. So you are saying my opinion is more valid than yours.
I'm glad you agree.

reply

We both agree you're lazy and close-minded.

reply

No we don't, but thanks for the insight! I always wondered what it would be like to be judged by someone who has the mental capacity of a chihuahua. I didn't realize that having a different perspective from yours automatically makes me lazy and close-minded. I'll try to be more conformist next time.

reply

No, your lambasting a subject in which you literally have zero knowledge and are too lazy to Google makes you lazy and close minded.

Your equating a high school dropout scam artist to peer-reviewed scientists and doctors makes you easily manipulated and dumb.

Your dictating what MY EXPERIENCE was makes you arrogant and ignorant.

Your gaslighting doesn't work with me.

reply

I think you dropped your logic back there somewhere.

I used to be active in the Skeptic community back in 2005-2008. I've looked into many paranormal claims including Remote Viewing. I did not find any credible evidence of it working. What I did find was a bunch of pseudo-science, charlatans, and self-deluded people.

Randi was a genius who was admired by many scientists with Ph.Ds. Many of them worked with him to properly design their experiments because of his expertise in deception.
The fact that he was a high school dropout is irrelevant. It's not only stupid but also very elitist of you to judge someone for not finishing school.
George Bernard Shaw was a high school drop-out, and he was a famous playwright, critic, and social reformer, who is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential playwrights of the 20th century. His works are famous for their wit, intelligence, and social commentary. He was an essayist, critic, and public speaker who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. So apparently being a high school drop-out doesn't exclude you from achieving greatness. Quentin Tarantino is another famous person who dropped out of high school, and he is one of the best writers and directors in the business.

And your experience doesn't matter. Plenty of people have all sorts of experiences and delude themselves into thinking all kinds of nonsense.

Your gaslighting doesn't work with me.

You call it gas lighting, I call it demolishing your arguments and running intellectual circles around you.

I feel like I'm playing chess with a pigeon here.

reply

I, for one, would like to see an easier way to format text & insert quotes than the cumbersome <></> method. Would also like to be able to have signitures like the old IMDb boards.

As far as video/image features, that would be nice, but that takes a lot of bandwidth & I don't think it's really nessecarily. As you say, the more bare bones architecture of MC probably keeps the trolls of the filmboards-type away, & that's fine with me.😎

reply

I agree, while it would be cool to see images and videos, I think the site looks more elegant without them.
I like the idea of signatures.
As for the quotes, I don't mind them. Though I would recommend that they change "blockquote" to "bq" and spoiler to "sp", this way it will be less cumbersome.

reply

There is also an add-on for firefox and chrome that allows you to see this message board on IMBD itself.
For example, if I go to the IMDB page for Dexter, it shows me the 'Dexter' thread from this site. It also works with individual episodes.
You just have to install the Tapermonkey add-on that allows you to run scripts, and then install this script:
'New IMDB Message Boards - Moviechat'
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/27617-new-imdb-message-boards-moviechat

The founder of this site knows about this script and is a fan:
https://www.reddit.com/r/IMDbFilmGeneral/comments/5w1uft/comment/de7abkb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

reply

Cool. Thanks for the info !!

reply

Yeah, it's cool because it makes IMDB look like the old IMBD. With the forums down below the reviews section.
I'm also trying to find a Stylish script or an add-on that returns IMDB to the classic look, with out all the large images, but so far no luck.

reply

Does it synch your imdb profile w/ your MC profile ??

reply

I don't know, I don't have an account with IMDB. All I know is that it just adds the forum section to IMDB in a box under the review section. Having said that, I don't think it does, because when I'm logged in to Moviechat, IMDB doesn't know that I'm logged in. So it seems like you can only read the posts on IMDB, but if you want to post something, you have to do it on Moviechat. Maybe there is a way but I haven't fucked around with it enough to know.

reply

filmboards has paid the price for bad management. It is really a ghost town if you want serious discussion. It's got about 30 regulars and it's going nowhere.

MC won that competition long ago.

reply

Everytime I go there, I leave within 30 seconds. I'm never getting an account there.

reply

RIP Who

RIP Whom

reply

Damn, again?

reply

Yes 😔

reply

If "What" suddenly appears, I'll know it's you.

reply

😂 yup

reply

What happened to Whom?

reply

Who?

Signed, million man.

reply

I hope it fixed his capslock button.

reply

Out of all the things wrong with "him", the capitals letters are the least of "his" problems.

reply

The caps lock symbolizes his retardation. It's how you can tell that he has a lot of problems.

reply

More proof that you're ClosedMind. There's nothing wrong with using all caps. It's perfectly normal:
https://miro.medium.com/max/1200/0*vor0Ji44qyRmwvd1.png

reply

It's normal in moderation. Using it the way Kowalski does is abnormal, and a sign of profound retardation bordering on insanity. Whether it's genetic or a result of severe brain trauma we just don't know, what we do know is, that it's a symptom of a sick mind.

reply

Kowalski will get the last laugh.

reply

He should stop looking in the mirror then.
