Bloodiest samurai movies you've seen.

I'm a sick bastard and like seeing gore. What are the bloodiest samurai flicks you've seen? I need recommendations. Black and white or colour are fine, but I prefer colour in this case because, as I said I'm a sick bastard, and I wanna see red blood splatter.

I've seen all the big name sumurai films by Kurosawa and Kobayashi.

reply

Bump.

reply

Agitated that you haven't gotten a response here yet, attention whore?

Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly that you're a "sick bastard."

reply

I've sent your information to an anti-abortion movement. After assessing your situation, they've reconsidered their position and now understand why abortion is necessary.

reply

The Lord was on a roll the day He created me and that's why he didn't "rest", sick bastard.

reply

The reason he didn't rest is because you gave him a hard time and tried to stop you. He didn't want to inflict that much pain on the world.

reply

I understand your response to that poster, it is a needlessly aggressive and invasive pest, luckily we avoid each other for the most part

Check out Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai (99) starring Forrest Whittaker…it’s more gunplay than sword fighting but it’s very good👊

reply

Seen it, lliked it. Know any where someone gets their head chopped off? I'm a sucker for unnecessarily violent samurai movies.

reply

You should enter the Deep Web and check out Isis videos. They're especially entertaining for your lot during a major, Christian, holiday week end.

reply

You realize the violence in samurai movies are fake and ISIS violence is real, right?

reply

Of course I do. But the comparison is still relevant, given your comments. Again, your own words, "I'm a "sick bastard."

reply

The comparison is relevant because I want samurai movies, not real terrorism videos.

reply

More muddy water in an attempt to rationalize and justify.

reply

You have an obsession Muddy Waters. He's a legend though.

reply

I'm not Muddy Waters, jerk-off, but I have more details about him than just posting a phony, generic comment like, "He's a legend though."

reply

How is saying he's a legend phony? He is.

reply

Buddy, just quit responding to that one, it’s nothing but spite and nasty out of nowhere angry responses from that one…We all know this.

reply

Another feeble attempt at demagoguery, presuming to speak for all. Your self-constructed pedestal here has been dismantled via attrition, never to rise again.

DONT TELL ANYONE...BUT...YOU MIGHT ONLY BE THE SECOND WORST PERSON EVER.🙄

reply

i must admit i am not a fan of this genre.

reply

I'm not a fan of period pieces in general, but I love samurai movies no matter the year it takes place.

reply

truth be told, i am not a big fan of japanese movies in general.

reply

If you do plan on watching one, I recommend "Departures" (2008)

reply

BECAUSE OF THE WAR?🙂

reply

i find them funny when they are not suppose to be.

reply

I HAVE A BIT OF AN ISSUE WITH FOREIGN FILM AS A WHOLE...WITH A FEW EXCEPTIONS.

reply

What don’t you like about them?

reply

Kill Bill Part I

reply

Seen it. I've seen most of the big name samurai movies.

reply

Not Samurai, but these are some martial arts films I love featuring swordplay you might like:

Lady Snowblood (1973)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jWy4RgyIUAA

The Challenge (1982)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zdOlN2q95gU

The Street Fighter (1974)

reply

I forgot about The Street Fighter. I've been meaning to watch that.

Does Mifune speak English in "The Challenge"? There are a lot of Americans in it.

reply

If you haven’t seen any Sonny Chiba films, The Street Fighter will be a treat.

No, Mifune does not speak English in this one but he is his usual bad assed self. Scott Glen does some pretty bad acting but it’s a minor gripe compared to the film overall.

reply

You might try the Lone Wolf and Cub films.

reply

I've seen them. Liked them all especially part 3.

reply

sorry, cant think of any other than the obvious.... i was more into kung fu theater.

but as a side note...ever listen to Whispered? (samurai themed metal)
https://youtu.be/cHQORyaQ2kA

reply

I hear some progressive in there.

reply

Have you seen the live-action Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) saga? The penultimate movie was best IMO.

reply

Holy shit, just saw the trailer and that's exactly what I'm looking for. That guy was slicing everyone. Is there going to be a part 3 because part 2 is called "The Beginning"?

reply

No. Part II The Beginning is the final movie. It's actually a prequel and shows how the main protag became Samurai X. It's convoluted, because for the Japanese audience, he is basically a metaphor for Japan and how he transform from his old self to his new self is the suggestion by the writer how Japan should move on from WW II. Thus the prequel is indeed the most important arc of the saga.

However, for non Japanese, all this nonsense doesn't matter. Thus, the second last move (The Final) should be the ultimate movie.

If you want to watch all of the movies (there are 5 movies spanning from 2012 to 2021), I recommend you watch The Beginning before The Final. Otherwise it would just end in a whimper.

reply

Thanks. I'll download the first one and if I like it, I'll carry on with the series.

reply

Not really my greatest area of expertise, but I suppose 13 Assassins (2010) and Blade of the Immortal (2017), both by none other than Takashi Miike, should probably fit the bill.

reply

Takashi Miike does 10 movies a year. No wonder I never heard of "Blade of the Immortal".
