How do y'all feel about Anime?

Like in general. Do you love it, hate it or just don't care for 'em? They're super popular nowadays. The market for them is huge. And you're basically 'cool for liking 'em' or something.

For me, I didn't grew up with them. It wasn't broadcast in my area. Just Superman:TAS, Codename:KND, X-Men Evolution, Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab, Justice League, Johnny Bravo & Courage The Cowardly Dog to name a few. Late 90s to mid 2000s Cartoon Network was basically my childhood.

And by the time I became an adult, I just didn't care for them. The looong fights, speeches, flashbacks, yelling & how they'd go on & on for ages was mostly what put me off.

But I don't hate Anime. I just couldn't get into most of them. I do watch one currently. It's called Scissor Seven. It's Chinese. 10 episodes a season & each episode is just 10mins long. It's just a breeze to get through. It's on Netflix.

Also, even though I've never actually watched a single episode of Dragon Ball, I've watched every abridged episode by Team Four Star on YouTube.

My little brother turned 21 this year & he's just getting into them. He just finished the OG Naruto about a month ago. 220 episodes.

And now, he's already like almost 200 episodes into Shippuden's 500 freaking episodes.

I honestly don't think I can do that. I already dislike Network shows that have 20+ episodes a season.

I don't watch many TV shows, but when I do, I usually gravitate toward British shows because they don't do stuff like this. 6 episodes a season is fine.

Prodigal Son & Evil were my last Network shows. The former got cancelled & the latter got moved to a streaming service

Nowadays, I just watch Cable & streaming shows. There's literally nothing for me on Network tv anymore.

And I rarely watch anything that has more than 13 episodes. Also, love British tv.

There are some shows I like and a lot that don't appeal to me whatsoever.

Growing up in the 80s, there were quite a few anime shows.

You into any of the big/popular ones? Like Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece or most recently My Hero Academia & Demon Slayer to name a few

No, I'm into the magical girl genre. I really enjoyed the first season of Sailor Moon.

In general, I like it. Probably has to do with how I grew up watching stuff I'd only find out was actually anime some 20 years later, such as Tokusou Kihei Dorvack, Shin Tetsujin 28-go or Wan Wan Sanjuushi.

Sturgeon's Law still applies, though.

I really do wish I grew up with it. I honestly feel like I would've liked it way more back then. Especially the likes of Naruto. I was a fan huge Kung fu, ninjas & all that kinda stuff in my childhood

Love it, but not all of it. Just like with western cartoons, anime as a genre is extremely varied. For example, you wouldn't put Daria in the same category as The Powerpuff Girls. So there's definitely something for everyone, if you can get past the fact that the series' are animated and have the patience to look for ones you like.

I grew up with Sailor Moon and Pokemon, but as I got older, my tastes changed and so did the anime I watched. There's dark ones, like Death Note and Tokyo Ghoul, oddball funny ones like Yakitate Japan and Cromartie High school, supernatural ones like Blue Exorcist and The Case Study of Vanitas, the sad ones like To Your Eternity...the list goes on and on. And of course all these appeal to my specific tastes.

Anime contains lots of genres and styles. It's pretty broad. There's some I dislike and some I love. Some that are well-written and intelligent, and some that are annoying and stupid. Attack on Titan is one of the best shows I've ever seen, anime or otherwise.

Late 90s/early 2000s Cartoon Network contained several anime series. Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Tenchi, Gundam, a few others. I was a late 90s/early 2000s kid too and I lived for watching Dragon Ball Z on Cartoon Network. I was religious about it.
