are you tired of tom hanks yet ?

Sort of, I really want him to get his act, or acting, together. He's a talented actor, and when he's on form he can be very funny, and can center a film or steal scenes in a supporting role. But since about 2000 he has been off form regularly, hammed things up dreadfully, I mean I'll never forgive him for the six roles he ruined in "Cloud Atlas".

The last time I saw him give a good performance was in "Sully", where he finally underplayed something.

I thought his performance in Road to Perdition was a masterclass in subtlety and as far from hammy as I could imagine. Same goes for News of the World. Personally I think you’re being harsh on him but each to their own.

I haven't seen either of those films, but I'm willing to believe that he's as good as you say. When he's good he can be really good, even spectacularly good, but the thing is he can also be very bad. Which is frustrating when you know he can be terrific, he's not one of these people who can't help being bad, and I wish I knew why he's become so inconsistent. Does he not listen to directors who aren't as legendary as he is?

I'm definitely not seeing that Mr. Rogers movie, though. I never liked the real Mr. Rogers.

I’m with you on the Mr Rogers one, I gave that a wide berth.

But oh my God man, you HAVE TO watch Road to Perdition. It’s a magnificent film, by far my favourite Sam Mendes effort. It’s thrilling, incredibly moving, exquisitely filmed, and features flawless performances from Hanks, Daniel Craig, Jude Law and Mr. Paul Newman using his steely blues to devastating effect for one of the last times. It’s not far off a perfect film in my humble opinion.

I've never been a fan.

he probably should be doing supporting roles at this point. news of the world, greyhound and mr rogers were all mediocre.
