How long do you think it will take before we kill ourselves off as a SPECIES???

And how do you think we'll do it???

And If you don't think that will happen, then why not?

What do you think we'll do to find a way stay alive??

reply

Between Muslims, China, BLM and Antifa I'd give us a decade. That means AOC would be right. But for the wrong reasons.

reply

We're not allowed to discuss politics here. When I tried to have a conversation a couple of days ago about the 2nd Amendment, for example, it got deleted. Then the MOD also deleted the COLORADO SHOOTING topic as well (for the same reason because the 2nd AMENDMENDMENT was also mentioned on that topic too).

I think some humans will still be scratching around when the Sun dies.

reply

Since the HEAT will be so INTENSE that MOUNTAINS will MELT prior to the time when our SUN SWELLS UP into a RED GIANT and DIES (before it SHRINKS down to become what's called a WHITE DWARF), it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY HUMANS (or any other LIFE FORM for that matter) will still be scratching around on what's left of the MELTED planet at that time.

I'll bet a mutated group of elite scientists will be in a nuclear submarine at the bottom of the Mariana's Trench in the Earth's last remaining water. ...and yes, probably die clutching at life, rutting in lab coats to the end, quite awhile before a nova or other fate of our Sun.

... but we'll get close, I bet. Unless I take my mask off right now.

reply

OUR SUN isn't LARGE ENOUGH to GO NOVA.

All it can do is SWELL UP into a RED GIANT.

In other words, our SUN was also created by OTHER SUNS that went SUPER NOVA.

And that's why we also have categories called POPULATION STARS that contain different GENERATIONS of STARS (sort of like them having a FAMILY TREE the same way as people do).

Population I, or metal-rich, stars are young stars with the highest metallicity out of all three populations, and are more commonly found in the spiral arms of the Milky Way galaxy. The Earth 's Sun is an example of a metal-rich star and is considered as an intermediate Population I star, while the solar-like Mu Arae is much richer in metals.

the first stars in the universe (very low metal content) were deemed Population III, old stars (low metallicity) as Population II, and recent stars (high metallicity) as Population I.[5] The Sun is considered population I, a recent star

Seems like good data but why did you post that interesting part there instead of the part that supports your claim about novas? I'm not disputing your claim (it has been 25 years since my Astronomy class) but only wondering why you didn't use a quote about our "SON" that was cogent. If you're going to go that far, why not get it right? Put me in my place.

reply

I'm not sure what you mean about the interesting part or how one is suppose to put you in your place.

The OLDER POPULATION III STARS had more PRIMORDIAL STUFF in them than our star has (which is how we know that we're a YOUNGER POPULATION I STAR -- that was BORN from the DEATHS of the OLDER MUCH LARGER STARS that went SUPER NOVA -- because they were LARGE enough in size to be able to do so).

In other words, our SUN is also the GRANDCHILD (grand "SON" or daughter ???) of some other OLDER STAR.

And apparently the GRANDKIDS of the LARGER STARS also tend to be much SMALLER in size than their GRANDPARENTS were.

Population III | COSMOS

https://astronomy.swin.edu.au/cosmos/P/Population+III

Population III (Pop III) stars are composed entirely of primordial gas โ€“ hydrogen, helium and very small amounts of lithium and beryllium. This means that the gas from which Pop III stars formed had not been โ€˜recycledโ€™ (incorporated into, and then expelled) from previous generations of stars, but was pristine material left over from the Big Bang.

Interesting and informative but again the pasted selection from that site does not support what you are saying. I am not saying that you are wrong. You might be right and I want to know the facts. But I don't understand why you keep choosing excepts from the website that don't back up your claim that our "SON" is too small to ever go nova.

It's like if I was trying to convince you that American Indians used a certain kind of wood to make their bows and then pasted excerpts from trusted sources about all the different size bows they made.

Do you not expect people to read the links? Is this somehow linked to your mysterious capitalization practices?

Do we have a SON???

I don't even recall ever having met you before !!!

Seriously, though, what selection from what site are you talking about that doesn't support what's been said???

Since one has 3 different topics going now at one time (and 2 of them kind of over lap a bit), one is also having problems trying to keep all of the different conversations straight.

So if you could please QUOTE the passage and explain in more detail what precisely it is that you mean that could also be very helpful in being able to better comprehend whatever it is that you mean.

Are you saying you want PROFF that our SUN can't go SUPERNOVA??? If so, then here it is:

The Sun Won't Go Supernova - Today I Found Out

www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2011/03/the-sun-wont-go-supernova

Mar 09, 2011 ยท Text Version: The Sun does not have enough mass to go supernova and explode. However, in about 5 billion years it will enter a red giant phase steadily expanding until it consumes the Earth.

I'm glad to see that you edited "SON" to "SUN." It would have been better if you had gone the distance and said "Sun" instead but I'll take the improvement. Your rampant capitalization makes you seem delirious.

And good for you on the proper excerpt! I'm also happy to see the lack of emoji spam at post's end. Calm is always better.

Thanks for the info.

We're the last generation of homo sapiens. We're going to be genetically modified into something else. 40 years? I think the program's already been in effect since the 60s. GMOs, mass injections, fake meat. It's all cruising along nicely.

reply

Any ideas what the MODIFIED beings might look like or what they might be composed of???

We're going to be Morlocks.

You mean those CREATURES from the TIME MACHINE???

UGH.

Glad I'm due to be checking out of here before that happens !!!

The lockdown types will turn into Morlocks. The freedom type will end up being the Eloi. Sad fate.

I'm confident that the human race has the adaptability to survive - we'll be around for a while yet. Besides, evolution hasn't run it's course yet.

reply

How do you think we'll ADAPT to the temperature becoming so HOT that we won't be able to GROW FOOD for us to eat anymore???

reply

Iโ€™m optimistic weโ€™ll prevent that from happening.

The octopusses will kill us first.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp1HQTOK37o

While swimming nearby soon after, Karlson was examining a pile of crab shells when he felt a whipping sensation across his left arm, followed by a second strike across his neck and upper back.

He presumed the assailant was the same octopus as earlier and that he had inadvertently stumbled upon its home.

His goggles fogged and the water around him turned murky with what he thought might have been octopus ink as he struggled back toward the shore.

"I was confused -- it was more of a shock than a fright," said Karlson.

Octopuses are known to squirt an ink-like substance when they feel threatened.

Within a minute, a perfect imprint of an octopus tentacle appeared on Karlson's neck and back.

A former volunteer lifeguard, Karlson rushed back to his hotel room to find something acidic to put on the wound. All his family could grab was Coca-Cola, which his wife poured over his back in the shower and the pain dissipated.

"The pain went away and more than anything since then, it's been more the physical hit that was painful... The imprint on my neck in those photos is more from the physical hit, and I guess it makes complete sense when you look at the video I took 20 minutes earlier of that lashing out," he said.

If they walk out of the water and begin walking around on LAND then one could definitely see a problem for us.

But as long as we stay out of the water we'll probably be ok???

reply

In about 4,5 billion years will be over unless we manage to destroy the planet long before.

reply

All kinds of stuff is going to happen before that 4.5 BILLION TIME FRAME when the SUN turns into a RED GIANT and GOBBLES us up before it shrinks down and becomes a WHITE DWARF.

By the end of this century we'll have raised the TEMPERATURE 3 degrees FARENHEIT, which will make it impossible to grow FOOD anymore.

And if we find a way to deal with that problem, we're also going to COLLIDE with the ANDROMEDA GALAXY -- at which time our planet and SOLAR SYSTEM could get FLUNG out into SPACE-- where we'd be a ROUGE PLANET and a place where no one could survive.

We'd also change from being a SPIRAL GALAXY into being a ROUND SHAPED or ELLIPTICAL GALAXY.

How Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy will disappear after 4 ...

https://www.republicmap.com/republicmap_special/...

Oct 12, 2020 ยท There are very high chances it will go out after the collision, galaxy less solar system. The stars will throw out, some will merge. Both have a large blank space and milky way has a low number of stars than andromeda. So the collision between the stars is only 23% to 30%. The spiral shape will be destroyed and change into a giant elliptical shape.

And there's also the chance YELLOW STONE could EXPLODE AGAIN.

And there's also the other SNOWBALL EARTH situation where the entire GLOBE could get covered in ICE again.

NUKES are also another possibility that could do away with us.

And we also sent out that PROBE into SPACE called VOYAGER that contains info about how to find us (which CARL SEAGAN also reminded us was a foolish thing to do -- because if one is in the JUNGLE then you shouldn't cry out and bring attention to yourself being there the way that we've done).

So one day some HOSTILE ALIEN INVADERS might also show up on our doorstep.

reply

OMG. Look at the grammar in that excerpt. Real scientists.

reply

Wikipedia also has another possibility for the way that we could KILL OURSELVES off:

The environmental view in favor of human extinction is shared by the members of Voluntary Human Extinction Movement who call for refraining from reproduction and allowing the human species to go peacefully extinct, thus stopping further environmental degradation.[95]

If and when we know for certain that there's NO HOPE of survival for us anymore on the planet, this would also seem like a good alternative to having future generations starving to death (assuming that we also had enough time to use this method as a way to prevent that from happening).

But there are also other much faster ways that we could PERISH, such as if GAMMA RAY BURST (GRB) were to hit us (which we'd also not see coming in time enough to do anything about it).

This is an example of a group of questions that I can not answer. To answer is to give up hope and I will not give up hope. And I will not speculate as to why you -- whoever you are -- are asking these questions...

No need to SPECULATE.

The question was found in a LIST of PHILOSOPHICAL QUESTIONS.

And WIKIPEDIA also addresses the same issues as well:
