According to Disney sources

the elder sister that has helped to shape him. Kee is a truth teller and has insight that others do not. A tomboy, she wants to prove herself in the masculine world [...] Kee sets out to prove that she is as capable as any young warrior

EDIT --------------
Much better than the feminist Predator, enjoy the Sabagebu predator episode 😄

I read the article and it doesn’t mention “evil male oppressors” at all, did you make that bit up all yourself?

Nothing about this seems newsworthy. A female fighting aliens - been happening since Sigourney in the 70s. A girl wanting to prove herself as a warrior - anyone heard of Mulan? A new predator movie - wake me when it’s over 🥱😴

I'd watch it if they get Chris Hansen to star. I think that having the "To Catch a Predator" guy in this would immediately make it better.

reply

I'd watch if Gina Carano was the girl,
despite completely diagreeing with her personal views on a few things

reply

I could see it. She has the look. I can picture her with a handgun, machine gun and a rocket launcher.

reply

Should have had Cynthia Rothrock from the 90s.

reply

No one could top that legend.

It doesn't mention it, that's why (clue!) I didn't quote it.

But it's the logical conclusion in the article. This movie is just more of the "females good, males evil" usual Hollywood stuff... now with Predators.

reply

Yeah ok I was maybe being a little facetious.

I hear where you’re coming from I guess I just don’t automatically assume that a kick-ass female lead means the filmmakers are pushing an agenda that males are evil. No offence but to me that attitude seems a little close to a persecution complex for my liking.

Personally I really enjoy seeing a female lead in an action film. From Alien to A Long Kiss Goodnight to The Hunger Games I think it’s refreshing to see a woman playing something other than a hapless screaming individual who needs to be saved by the hero. Brings a new dynamic to the genre for me and saves it from being stale, but I accept that not everyone sees it the same way. I guess for me there’s a place for both guys and girls in the action hero arena.

^Pretty much this^

They lost me at Predator 5.

reply

presumably 3 and 4 were those ludicrous cash grab "vs" movies
Pratator vs The Goonies or some shit.

reply

As much as people (including myself) like the first film, I don't see why anyone would be excited for this when 2-4 weren't that great.

reply

PREDATOR 2 IS JUST SHY OF GREAT,PREDATORS IS PRETTY DAMN AWESOME,THE PREDATOR WAS FLAWED AS ALL HELL BUT STILL GOOD FUN...THE ALIEN VS PREDATOR FLICKS ARE PRETTY BAD,EXCEPT WHEN THE MAIN CHICK TEAMS UP WITH THE PREDATOR...THAT WAS BADASS!

reply

I love AvP and I can’t even tell you why. It just entertained the crap out of me. Unlike the Predator reboot which was just as dumb but not half as fun.

reply

EVERYONE SEEMS TO FEEL THE SAME ABOUT WHAT I ADMIT IS A DUMB PREDATOR REBOOT/SEQUEL...THAT DUMB WORKED SO WELL FOR ME THOUGH...IM NOT SURE WHY...MUCH LIKE YOU AND AVP I SUPPOSE.

reply

It's a well done B-movie. It's clearly one of those movies that is completely self-aware of being a guilty pleasure. Kind of similar to pulp fiction, and I don't mean Tarantino's movie but the real pulp fiction, the books. Sometimes, these B-movies and (let's say) "B-books" are surprisingly decently done. I thin AvP is one of those cases.

reply

That’s a good way of putting it. Totally agree.

reply

"Pratator vs The Goonies"

I'd watch that.

reply

Predator vs Sabagebu Survival Club, that's much better! ^_^

reply

What about Predator vs The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel? Judi Dench and Maggie Smith chasing a Predator down the hall with AK47s ablazing. You’d have to be mad to not want to see that.

reply

We need a new thread for this, lol.

reply

So hey, what can we do to drum up interest in a premise that has proven to have already been thoroughly exhausted in its possibilities 17 years ago? Oh, I know, let's give it a "girl power" angle! Lord knows there hasn't been any of that on the screen for a while now, has it?

reply

The problem is that most people don't like modern Hollywood, so the way to attract viewers is to use old franchises, if possible with some old actor/actress so you can bank in nostalgia.

It's getting old really quick, though.

reply

Flop!

reply

Things I have always wanted in Predator films is someone going against gender norms and fighting the patriarchy. I'm sure that will go down amazingly well.

Once again another film putting modern day identity politics into a story set in the past.

These will bomb worse than Dark Fate.

reply

Do they never learn?

reply

Unfortunately these studios think Twitter likes and retweets equals dollars.

So no they will probably never learn.

reply

DO THEY EVER LEARN?*

NOPE.

reply

See, for me the worst thing about Dark Fate wasn’t the female contingent but Arnie’s character. I just couldn’t swallow that a Terminator who had been programmed to kill would find his humanity and start playing happy families just because he’d taken out his target. That seemed far too illogical to me. I would have much preferred for him to be sent as a protector like in T2 or for him to be a killer like the original. Of course if he had been people would be moaning that the inference was that all white males are evil, so I guess it would have copped backlash regardless of how it played out. For me it was a mildly entertaining entry to the franchise that neither offended me politically or overly excited me. It was just an average movie.

reply

I would rather they stop making Terminator movies. See? No backlash.

reply

Thank you.

Hollywood seriously needs to relearn the art of leaving good things alone.

The ending of Predator 2 showed that Predators had hunted on Earth before with the gift of a flintlock pistol given to Danny Glover.

If they want a hit movie, just set in the past with a Predator visiting a conflict on Earth, like Vietnam or WWII for example, and if that’s a hit, set another movie in 1715 (the year inscribed on the flintlock pistol).
