What was the first record you bought?

First Vinyl Single: Wrapped Around Your Finger – The Police*

First Vinyl LP: Rio – Duran Duran

Feel free to include your first Cassette or CD too, I don’t remember what mine were, and if 8-tracks or downloads were your first purchases post them too!

*I bought my first ever record in a shoe shop, they were selling the top ten chart singles amongst their fine array of shoes for some weird reason! The shoes were comfortable too.

What a great post!

It has to be BMG or Columbia House "subscription" for sure...

Remember those?

I wish I had a better recollection on this topic.

It might have been Bon Jovi, "These Days".

I'm pretty certain it was.

Which is weird....because the band was "old" at the I was growing up.

I'm not proud of this choice.

It was called the Britannia Music Club in the UK, and I stupidly joined it more than once! 😂

reply

Nothing wrong with Bon Jovi.

First tape was green day - Dookie
First CD was the foo fighters

It was actually won, calling into a radio show. Cheap Trick- Live at Budokan. Changed my 12 year-old life forever.

reply

Cool, I used to win records as a kid too but I'd use fake names when entering competitions!

First Vinyl Single: Hello, I Love You by The Doors
First Vinyl Album: God Bless Tiny Tim. I got it on sale at Kmart for 44 cents plus tax.
