I can’t seem to get used to the idea of tattos being mainstream, they will always look trashy to me

Anyone else? When did it become so acceptable to be covered in tattoos, or even to have them visible?

Some can look cool and artfully done, but those are not most of what I see. People seem to go for quantity over quality.

I don't like them on women at all. Some are ok on guys, but IMO body art is terrible. You might think it looks really good on your young smooth skin, but just wait until it's not so smooth and starts sagging. YIKES!

Like any art there are good and bad tatts. Generally I have no problem with what people do with their own bodies and I actually really admire the artistry in well-placed, intricate tattoos. They can look awesome on both males and females. Not really a fan of neck and face tatts, I think it looks too intimidating, but each to their own.

Tip for you though, if tattoos turn you off don't go to New Zealand. It's more unusual to find someone there with no tatts. It would be a nightmare for you!

We dont choose our attractions, they choose us.

I also just hate them. I don't want to go to my grave with a Mickey Mouse on my chest.

They're trashy and serve no purpose. I wonder what people are trying to prove by getting tattoos?

I've heard this analogy: Your body is an expensive sports car. Getting tattoos is taking the keys and scuffing the paint job.

"I wonder what people are trying to prove by getting tattoos?"

I think it's strange you would think getting a tattoo is proving any point. What point is someone trying to prove by dying their hair, or piercing their ears, or modifying their external appearance in any way?

Maybe they just like tattoos and think they look good.

Why would someone like a tattoo? Or body piercings? Or purple hair? What is so appealing about getting stuck full of needles and marring your body?

Sorry, they don't "look good." I still want to know what these people are trying to prove. Maybe it's a "look at me" thing, a disordered need for attention. There seems to be no shortage of that mindset these days.

"Why would someone like a tattoo?"

Many reasons. You could ask why someone likes any art, be it on a canvas or a body. It's too subjective to say.

Personally, I look at something like this and yes I admire the artistry. I understand it's not your thing which is fine, but "sorry they don't look good" is merely an opinion.

I have no plans to get any tattoos, but if I were to choose one as a prank for a friend it would be some poorly drawn blatantly racist phrase with deplorable spelling errors. We would get some laughs out of it.

I just have a little teardrop one by my eye. that's it.
