I can’t seem to get used to the idea of tattos being mainstream, they will always look trashy to me

Anyone else? When did it become so acceptable to be covered in tattoos, or even to have them visible?

Some can look cool and artfully done, but those are not most of what I see. People seem to go for quantity over quality.

It became more acceptable because its their own choice and their own body lol.
So silly to let these things affect you - if it doesn't harm anyone why give a single thought about it?

reply

That sounds like something someone with tattoos would say.

I have 0 tattoos. Not against the idea of ever getting some though.

I thought about getting one in Highschool but never did. To be honest I'm glad I never got one. They don't age well. It takes no time for them to fade. Tattoo are not for me. I don't think they look trashy.

My only observation is that, like nose rings and metal objects sticking into pierced parts of the body, it looks like people are voluntarily doing things to themselves that, if forced/required to do, would be consider humiliating and offensive and would be resisted because of the health risks. What other things do humans do voluntarily that, if forced to do them, would be considered offensive? I think daredevil stunts, skydiving, lifting heavy weights might fall into that category.
