I am thinking of throwing some dvd's away

But I am worried I might want to watch them again in a few years, but I feel I have too much and it takes up space.

I may be wrong but I think the market is moving towards streaming services only. I suspect at some point they will stop making DVDs and Blu-rays so that they will have people by the balls and can charge what they like. I have a largish collection and I'm hanging onto them.

At least you own them. You can't actually own anything digitally. I buy physical copies of anything that I really want to keep.

reply

This is what I do, too. If I really like the program/movie, I buy a physical copy. You never know when something will disappear from a streaming service.

Box 'em up and shove them in a closet or whatever. Give it a year or whatever.
This allows you time to decide if you miss them or not.

20,000 TITLES AND GROWING HERE...I SPENT 50 BUCKS ON TITLES AT THRIFT SHOPS WITH MY DAUGHTER TODAY....THROWING DVDS AWAY...EGADS!

Fifty dollars at a resale shop is indeed a lot of DVDs! My daughter and I hit the thrift stores yesterday too and I got some really cool titles in VHS and DVD. One was a Bronson film called Someone Behind the Door (1971) that I had never heard of. My daughter and her friends are into 80’s style clothes so after I’m done looking at movies and vinyl music I usually have to make them leave because they want to browse forever. So yeah, I love resale shops too.

Don't throw them out! Sell em on ebay or something

reply

They make excellent coasters (I'm kidding, I'm kidding!).

You might as well throw your wallet down the toilet while you're at it, unless these are burned dvds... nvm. You could always donate it or give it to family members who may want to watch it and can always ask them for it if you feel like watching it again.

I got rid of most of mine years ago. The favorites I'm upgrading to Blu Ray if I find them at a good price. The rest, if I get the urge to see them again, I'll try to stream them somewhere or rent them from Netflix.

reply

How many favourites do you have?

reply

I'd guess like 50-60.

What titles you got?
