Why do anti-SJWs criticise every movie?

Whenever there's a movie with a female character, gay character, person of colour, etc, you always accuse it of being woke, SJW propaganda, pandering, politically correct, etc. Well you never explain it, so now's your chance. You always say movies like Alien are fine, but movies like The Last Jedi aren't. Well how are they different?

I have an answer for you..........

I could give two sh$ts about people like that. They are an offshoot of the ones who just want to see the world burn to hell.

Socially progressive views, including feminism, civil rights, and multiculturalism Is gaining ground toward their cause (whatever the fuk that is)

Alien didn't make a big deal out of it. Anti-SJWs didn't go after Wonder Woman much, either, because they didn't do a lot of "Girl power!" in the lead-up to the film (there was one line in the trailer, it was pretty mild). Contrast this to the ads for the Batwoman TV show where every other scene was making a point of how woke it was.

I think anti-SJW people don't like when they (rightly or wrongly) perceive a particular property as being deliberately woke.

Fastest way to explain it: people dislike propaganda in-general, but they loathe it when the propaganda is pushing something that annoy them. To somebody with their value-set (good, bad, and everything in-between) watching Doctor Who go woke is like watching a commercial for a politician they hate. Even more galling, it's with something they love. So, if you take Star Wars, they love it, then it gets (at least perceived as) turning woke as a virtue signal from the corporation looking to preen itself for cash. That's extra, extra, extra annoying.

Very few people whined about Nick Fury being played by Samuel L. Jackson because it wasn't seen as a commercial. They disliked Captain Marvel because it was seen as a propaganda piece.

While we're talking, SJWs criticise films with the same level of logic and reason as their opposite numbers. Joker got lambasted before a trailer even dropped, they hate Joe Rogan for having reasonable conversations with centrist guests, and cast members of the Ghostbusters reboot are angry that the new Ghostbusters sequel is ignoring their reboot. They said the MAGA/Trumpsters were "winning".

All the points you make are valid and similar to what I have stated. I just wanted to add that "Wokeness" like any other cliche gets boring after a while. It's like watching something and you sit there saying to yourself "and here comes the bad guy in a black hat" because you can just predict what is going to happen.

Also, being conservative, I get just as bored with Conservative politics in a film or TV show. I don't watch TV or films to get my dose of politics. I want entertainment and escape. I find it almost impossible to watch a lot of the WW2 era movies for example because of the obvious recruitment drive that was taking place often at the expense of story and/or character development.

So it's not always down to just a case of political bias.

You're right, it's not restricted just to politics, social ideals, or any one thing; it's all-encompassing. There's one for every stance, facet, or ideology.

Sorry if I repeated anything. The thread was huge and I didn't have time to scour the whole thing to make sure I wasn't repeating anybody. I just wanted to put in my bit.

Being conservative and trying to watch movies and TV must be like shuffling around in the dark waiting to stub your toe on something. You're getting a bruise from somewhere...

Did you ever watch The West Wing? It was pretty left, but I thought it presented some really great conservative/Republican characters and didn't let its heroes win every ideological argument.

reply

I'm not worried that you said similar to me that's fine.

Yeah it can be difficult finding something to watch and often I don't even bother or turn off pretty quickly because it is so predictable.

Tried the new Twilight Zone and that was boring. They had one ep which could have had so much potential. It was about a black woman who had a remote control switch which allowed her to reverse events and replay them. There was a white cop who pulled her and her son over, she kept replaying the event, becoming more and more paranoid each time. She even tried buying the cop some apple pie which made him more suspicious.

In short it became a BLM rant but I think the more interesting and "Twilight Zone"angle would have been how despite her trying for a different result she made things worse. A missed opportunity really.

No, I never watched West Wing, not into watching politicians real or fictional for the most part. Sounds good that they at least were balanced though it is more interesting than Left wingers prevailing no matter what.

Had technical issues see response above.

It was either a technical glitch or internet code I wasn't familiar with. Sometimes there's slang I just don't know...

I heard that the new Twilight Zone got a little preachy.

If you're not into political shows, yeah, don't bother with the West Wing. It's top-grade writing, but if the subject itself bores you, I can dig it. They definitely gave points to the right wing on that show. Not all the time, but enough. It was a bit idealistic, but it was great writing.
