Romantic comedies

Hey guys I’d just like to ask you, what do you think of this genre. Did you like it ?

I do like it very much, it’s a genre I mostly go to when I just want to be entertained and have a good time.
I do love my musicals and some inspirational movies to feel happy but when I want to get into a really good mood Rom coms are mostly my thing I don’t mind so much if it’s old or new but I always enjoy a good romantic comedy.

Watching Only You made realize how much I miss this sub genre.

The 2000s killed that genre by making films in that sub genre just for the sake of it without really caring to do something really enjoyable. But when it was an in vogue thing it gave us great moments.

On its last days the sub genre was ruined beyond repair but when it was good it made me very happy.

Anyway anyone has good recommendations?

You also have example like the Purge

I can admit I like them once in a while as a guilty pleasure.

Mr. Right is probably the best one I've seen in the last few years.

A Good Year (2006) - Russell Crowe, Marion Cotillard & Albert Finney in a film directed by Ridley Scott. Quite enjoyable.

I like the genre, although I don't see them often. I liked "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Crazy Rich Asians."

The Alfie remake was enjoyable.

50 First Dates and The Wedding Singer were pretty funny

For my personal tastes in comedy, I think this genre is utter crap. And the very few that may actually have funny parts to me would have been better without trying to be all sentimental in parts and substitute outlandish weirdness in their place.

Okay I have to check Purple Rose of Cairo, one of my uncles says it’s one of the best movies he has seen. So hearing about that again makes me feel like I’m missing something really good.

When Woody Allen goes for comedy he is really good. Many hatted it but I really liked from Rome with Love with Ellen Page, Jessie Eisenberg, benigni, Penelope Cruz and so many other actors so I’ll look for that one

They're rated almost equally but personally I thought Play it Again Sam (1972) was much funnier.
