I agree with upstream color, but certainly not primer.

Depending on the type of high one gets, I'd also say The Invitation.

reply

yeah, i'm actually not a huge fan of primer. i think upstream color is a massive step forward in terms of quality.

i've often wondered if david lowery's editing was the secret ingredient that made upstream color so hypnotic. his 'a ghost story' is one of my favourite films, & another one that might belong on a list like this.

I think you need to watch Upstream Color with someone who is stoned while you're not. Then count how many "But wait..." you hear.

Good call on Repo Man.

reply

i think of upstream color the same way i think of spacey ambient music, like brian eno or william basinski - it's not something you go to for structure and sense-making. it's zoning out in your own head-space stuff, and by that measure it's as good as those kinds of head movies get, imo.

I saw Pulp Fiction tripping in the theater for a first time viewing if that counts. 😎 it’s got to be good smoked up too.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019)

Producers were probably stoned when they decided to make this movie. So a movie from stoners for stoners! Yay!
