Movie Themed Birthday Party

Hey guys,

I am throwing my birthday next month and I want to make it a movie-themed one. I am having all the guests come as their favorite movie characters and I am trying to think of fun games we could play that are movie related. The problem is: I am a huge movie buff and I know a lot baout them but most of my friends haven't seen too many movies and are not well informed on the subject. Does anyone have any ideas for any games that are movie-related and are fun and easy play for anyone???

reply

I think coming as their favorite movie character is a great idea. Have them guess what movie the costumes represent.

reply

That's a good idea. Thanks. I was also thinking about everybody having to pull some famous Movie quotes out of a hat or sth. and then guess what movie they are from. I am gonna choose the very famous ones so everybody should be able to get it. Additionally, I was thinking about maybe having everybody act out a scene in pairs from a random movie even if they have no clue what movie they are from or what genre it is. I think that might make it quite entertaining ;)

Whatever games you come up with, you need to be the referee / judge, since you’re the expert here.

You could do a quiz (boys vs girls), but keep the questions really easy. You’ll be surprised how competitive it gets once they’ve had a few scoops.

reply

Scoops. Where are you from? When you were talking about getting scoops at the airport before I thought you meant ice cream, but I realize now you must mean booze, right? I like it.

reply

It’s an Irish phrase that I’ve appropriated (although I’m half Irish, so I guess I get a free pass on this one) and one that seems to land well with my mates (who have started using it too).

You’ve guessed correctly, (to me) it’s a nice way of referring to having a few beers or a few jars or whatever. Slàinte!

Name an actor and have them try to write down as many movies they can think of that said actor was in. Make teams so it’s easier and big name stars.

I THINK YOU SHOULD INVITE ME...YOUR PARTY SOUNDS FUCKING COOL...WE COULD BE BFFS FOR SURE.

reply

Do not invite this man until he removes his cap lock.

reply

20 YEARS AND STILL ROLLING CAPS...JUST STOP ALREADY,NOTHING WILL CHANGE.

reply

Nothing last forever Kowalski. Nothing.

THATS CUTE..IN THE TWO DECADES I HAVE BEEN USING CAPS.I HAVE FOUND ONE THING TO BE TRUE...THE COOL PEOPLE GET PAST IT AND THE PEOPLE NOT WORTH MY WORRY CURL UP IN THE FETAL POSITION BITCHING IN CIRCLES.

reply

You are wise indeed.

reply

Thanks for the compliment, Kowalski. Now start a new ABC game.

reply

Maybe 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon? If that's too difficult, maybe just guess the movie two actors appeared in? Or how about movie charades?

reply

There are a few games here you could copy. One was “guess the movie” with the clue being synonyms of the words in the movie title like:

Armageddon Today = Apocalypse Now

Advance Happy Birthday and I hope you have an awesome party!

reply

Are there any Agatha Christie murder mystery type games?

reply

I want to thank all of you for your great ideas. You really helped me out a lot. I will definitely try and play some of those games at my party and hope people will like them as well ;)
