do you like shepherd's pie?

That's what I had for dinner. Greek salad and shepherd's pie. No dessert. Too many Kit Kats this week.

I love shepherds pie but only if it’s ground beef. I’m not a big ground lamb fan. We had meatloaf and new potatoes for dinner.

Yes...not long ago I had a shepherd's pie that was steak and lamb and it sucked. I've also had the displeasure of a shepherd's pie that had some off-putting (at least to me) seasonings.

Keep it simple and shepherd's pie is yummy!

must be with ground beef.

It was a regular meal growing up. I still have it on occasion using a family recipe.

OMG! Love shepherd's pie!

reply

Absolutely.
My wife likes to experiment with different recipes. She once made Paul Prudhomme's Cajun version as a treat for her godfather. Got somewhat humorous as the poor guy can't stand anything spicy but kept eating it because she made it.

I'm sorry, that made me chuckle - I'm so immature.

Better?

reply

Apologies - I really am like a 12 year old sometimes.

reply

I'm not a big fan of them with ground meat. I guess it wouldn't really be considered a shepherd's pie, but I've always made it with leftover roast, veggies, gravy, and topped with mashed potatoes.

Love it, but it is kind of heavy so I don't eat it very often. Definitely a good comfort food. I like it with either beef, lamb, or both.

reply

Yes I do. Although sometimes if you make it with a Shepherd who is getting on in years, the consistency is sort of stringy and the meat tastes a little gamey.
