Is the musical the worst genre?

I can't think of anything that comes close to how bad it is. Random singing and dancing in the middle of scenes. 9 times out of 10, the song sucks too.

reply

Musicals are great. Definitely not the worst genre.

reply

Anyone who doesn't like musicals doesn't like music.

reply

None of the music I've hear in films is the kind of music I like.

reply

Yes I can't stand musicals and I never understand why they are singing, just say it ffs.

A close second are biopics. So dull, they are just movies that check of events in someone's life, then this happened and then this happened and then........

reply

I agree with you on biopics. They need to be different which is why I give credit to Rocketman for being a fantasy film.

reply

my least favorite along with animation.

reply

I use to really like animation until they started releasing 30 films in one year.

reply

Grease and West Side Story were very good

reply

I'll agree with you on one of those. The other has a flying car at the end.

reply

Oh hush you!
I've been waiting patiently for flying cars for some time now!

reply

No, I love show tunes too much.

I would have thought Eastern European art house films were worse.

Chick flicks aren’t great either.

reply

I love "My Fair Lady". But that's about it. And Rocky Horror. (Edited to add Singin' in the Rain. Another poster mentioned it.)

Seeing a musical on Broadway is so different and so much better.

reply

It seems Broadway is the only way to go with it. Musicals don't seem very cinematic.
