OJ Simpson Bronco chase. 25 years ago.
I missed most of this. It was a Friday and we had dinner plans. I was listening in the car and by the time we got out it was over. June 17/1994.

I remember how practically everyone was glued to a TV set watching the live chase. It has been said that the incident generated so much notoriety that Ford decided to discontinue the Bronco because they didn't want to be associated with the whole "fugitive on the run" thing.
So then they introduced the Escape.
Nice 😂
shareHa!
shareI saw the whole thing. News broke into whatever it was I was watching, and I sat there slack-jawed, unable to believe the utterly surreal scenario I was seeing unfold before my eyes.
I hadn't heard anything about the murders at that point, so it was even more of a shocker. Geez, seeing the 405 freeway empty, on a Friday early evening, was surreal all by itself.
I really liked The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, a 10 part mini-series. Great cast. Good portrayal of the chase.
shareIt was one of those events that I remember exactly where I was and who was there with me watching it
Still so unbelievable all this time later
Summer vacation in North Carolina. Had no idea who OJ was, but it was all my dad would talk about.
shareIt is amazing how much time we spent talking about that case.
share'The Trial of the Century' and all of that...evidently everyone in the media forgot about Nuremberg
shareInteresting how many folks have little to no knowledge of events that happened before they were born. And even if an event happened in their lifetime, if they weren't old enough to be aware of it, then it doesn't seem to matter or to count.
Although I recall hearing about the "big chase" I didn't watch any of it. I saw a report on a newscast and wondered why it was such a big deal.
I roll my eyes when the media portrays something or other as "the XX of the century." Please. This century is less than 20 years old.
Agreed
The hype was nuts but he was a sports icon and had a fine recurring character in the Naked Gun series, which were hilarious
Truth be told most people loved OJ and his marital issues were not well known
In other words he seemed like a great dude, it was all a bit shocking
