Do you think corporations need to do more to stop homophobia?

Are corporations allowing too much intolerance of LGBTQ people?

reply

Any LGBTQ will less self-entitlement and intolerance to anyone who doesn't accept whatever they say, or represent? And LG have nothing to do with the rest of the cute abbreviated-letters, which is very disrespectful of homosexuals.

Accept that "phobias" from different segments of society will always exist---it did thousands of years ago, and will thousands from now. Toughen up, and not expect the world to change for "moi"; it's not realistic, whether it's fair or not. Life is not fair for many people.

So you are saying: Do nothing and stop worrying?

Of course society changes and can change! There are good people, who fight for the right things: Women Rights, Equal rights and LGBT Rights as well.

Just look a few years or decades or a hundred years back. People and what they except and tolerate changed.

There will always be "phobic" idiots. And it is the job of the rest of the society to make them feel bad and wrong.

Imagine a mixed race couple a hundred years ago or a gay couple holding hands 30 years ago and how it is viewed now.

It gets better. It is everyones job.

reply

Societal change and tolerance is not the same as innate-feelings towards a particular characteristic. We thought we had racial tensions wrapped up after Marlin Luther King, and segregation and slavery was outlawed, but racial tensions are still dividing society. The same could be said for abortion.

Change is not calculus that society can always just program. People have inherent emotions about what's acceptable and desirable, even those who pride themselves on being so progressive and cool. I dont' believe everything starts from the outside-in, but the inside-out. Nobody wants the mentally-ill to be chastised and mistreated either, but it's easier said than done.

And gay couples holding hands is still not viewed as desirable by a large segment of society--but they just don't say anything. And be sure the holding-hands couple are in the safe part of town.

By the way, some people have enough ongoing problems which they struggle with than schooling phobic-people on LGBTQ, who do have their rights. A "right" is a question of law, not a personal reaction.

reply

The only things that have changed about how people view and treat members of the LGBT community is due to passing laws that FORCE people to accept homosexuals and not say a word to them without getting punished, indoctrinating young, impressionable children into siding with them, over half of society becoming apathetic about the whole thing, and propaganda splattered all over mainstream tv, whose audience shrinks more and more each year.

Trying to change people's hearts and minds when they have grown up with the truth for years, is about as easy as holding back a hurricane with a mop. A large part of American society still feels the same way about the LGBT community as they did 30 years ago, we're just now not allowed to say anything about it. Best we can do these days is avoid them and avoid the subject altogether, and keep teaching our kids the truth outside of the influence of school or mainstream society.

reply

They think what they perceive as discrimination can be modified by saying "no". Behavioral traits toward another is being confused with violating equal rights.

reply

Clearly there are no laws FORCING you to accept homosexuals, you would’ve been arrested by now. Most people are apathetic about the whole thing because most people understand that other people’s sexual preferences don’t affect them in the slightest. No one is asking you to change your extremely intolerant views, they are just asking you to mind your business because their sexuality has nothing to do with you.

reply

How are corporations supposed to stop homophobia? Homophobia starts with the individual> It's the individuals problem. Everyone needs to respect another's choices in life.

reply

I didn't really get this one either slimone🤔

Say, should OPEC do more to increase awareness of the benifits of Yoga?

reply

Damn that OPEC organisation and their complete ambivalence towards yoga.

reply

#boycottoil#teamyoga

reply

Right, I’m starting a petition. You know, if you get 100,000 signatures it’s considered for discussion in Parliament here in Britain.

reply

Consider me your John Hancock
Damn these anti-yogaists...we will educate them all about the importance of wind chimes and a proper stretch every day

reply

But, Friday is pub day for me, so the revolution will have to wait. Plus there’s an England footie match (or soccer, or sock-cherr, or whatever it is you crazy Americans call it) on tomorrow night, so it could get quite messy.

reply

No worries, we can postpone the revolution...mantras, salt crystals and spandex on chubby people everywhere 1 AM Sunday
Geronimo!

reply

OPEC should do more to stop that bear from stealing lunch baskets.

reply

Yogi is such a moocher

reply

You're making my point without knowing it. Homophobia is no more important than yoga awareness. So why is every Fortune 500 corporation flying the rainbow flag? It looks random, unless you understand that it's about something other than what it seems.

reply

The point is, we don’t see what your point is.

reply

Did you have a point?
What exactly was it?

reply

Everyone needs to respect another's choices in life.
---- --- --- --- ---- ---
And everyone needs to accept that not everyone will respect or accept your choices, or anything else. Accepting that you don't always get whatever you expect in life is being increasingly lost on some people. (but homosexuality is not a "choice")

reply

Sometimes i feel the HBTQ views themselves as weird more then others do when i see all those parades and stuff going on.

reply

Let's put it this way; I never had a need to hold a parade to show how proud I was of my sexuality.

reply

I wonder how a straight parade would be received, probably not well.

reply

It would be boring, truth be told. And less scary costumes on the men, hehe.

reply

I can believe this, homos really knows how to throw a party, i give them that.

reply

Are there corporations allowing too much intolerance of everyone EXCEPT the above group?

Apple is gay and over priced, homophobia solved
