Yes once and smoked and got lost straight away . also brought some type of weed called shiva to back home and smoked with good friend, but it strong and we were sat outside and gang of dogs came and looked at us through his chain fence. But they were all different type of dog, one big, one small, one furry and others. it freak us out so we go back inside.

Never been there but when I hear Amsterdam I think of the red light district.

It's a really cool place. It doubles as the Entertainment District.

I even went to college there. Sorry, not a fan. I much prefer other Dutch cities and my own hometown of Rotterdam.

reply

Maastricht was very nice, too. (I love the water)

reply

I like Maastricht, but it's too far away to visit regularly. You should come to Rotterdam, it's "hip and happening" over here right now.

reply

Did you try the Soused Herring? I think it would be pretty good as a sandwich.

reply

Some people do actually eat it on a bun with onions and pickles.

reply

Yup. I remember seeing this food on one of Andrew Zimmerns shows. I'd definitely try it if I ever find myself in the Netherlands.

reply

Do NOT eat it on a bun. Just dip it in onions and eat it Rotterdam style:

It kind of freaks me out. I live in a fishing community and its strictly used as a bait fish. I've used it my whole life to fish for Striper.

reply

The flavour and texture of soused herring is really great. It's probably an acquired taste, though.

reply

Seems similar to German Rollmops, which I was practically addicted to growing up. Ever have these ? Delicious! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollmops

reply

Yes, we also have pickled herring. My grandmother used to eat it sometimes. I had it last year when I made German style Labskaus.

Soused herring is something different, though. Slightly salty and very fatty. And the texture is almost like raw herring.

reply

I love herring but I am not sure I would eat it in a bun.

reply

Don't eat it on a bun, it's a waste of a good herring.

reply

I had a blast

reply

did you blast off ??
