Weirdest movie ever?

So many of them. One that's been haunting me lately is a slice of avant-garde from '68 called "The Swimmer." Burt Lancaster plays the titular main character, clad, from start to finish, only in tight swim briefs. It starts out as a cocktail hour frolic -- even jet set age icon Joan Rivers (giving the viewer the chance to see her before she submitted herself to a thousand facelifts) makes an appearance -- before descending into Lynchian depths of surrealism. Movies that start as one thing and then become something else entirely often flounder. For example: "Hancock". "The Swimmer," on the other hand, is an example of a film pulling off this difficult trick with ease.

It's recommended for those who want a really strange experience.

Blue Velvet 1986. You can't beat the In Dreams scene - so stupid yet so funny, yet compelling.

Well, the OP's example was Hancock and The Swimmer...

Never seen those movies. Maybe because I'm not a horror fan.

Just "The Swiimmer." I liked "The Swimmer" because, I felt, it started as one movie only, by the end, to have become a different movie entirely. "Hancock" too tried to start as one movie and then become a differently movie ... only, I felt, unlike "The Swimmer," it did this very poorly.

For a genre-bending movie, I recommend Colossal (2016). It starts as a typical rom-com chick-flick, ends as a giant monster movie, but all in all is pretty much still a chick-flick. So weird...

Thanks. I'll have to seek that out.

Mulholland Drive (2001). I love it and have seen it many times. I’ve read many good interpretations online, but I still don’t fully understand it.

Enemy (2013) is quite weird.

Nothing but Trouble (1991). I’m probably the only person in the world who loves this movie. It’s weird as f***, and Red Letter Media once described it as “a cross between The Goonies and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.

How about 'Mom and Dad' with Nicolas Cage??? You think you can actually top that one??

Being John Malkovich (1999) was pretty darn weird.

"The Penis is evil! The Penis shoots Seeds, and makes new Life to poison the Earth with a plague of men, as once it was. But the Gun shoots Death and purifies the Earth of the filth of Brutals. Go forth, and kill! Zardoz has spoken."

“A Clockwork Orange” An absolutely disgusting piece of crap. Nothing but gratuitous violence. It was so disturbing to the point of making me feel a shower was needed to wash off the filth! The actor Martin McDowell has always been a weird sort IMO. Look at the movies in which he’s been casted.

I also wasted my time on “The Swimmer”. I could not wrap my head around it...and I don’t care to try again!

Wow! I'm amazed to hear you say that. I think it was a brilliant masterpiece, 9.5/10. But then that's why they make chocolate and vanilla.
