I FINALLY found my dog!!!

It happened last Tuesday evening. Didn't expect it. Randomly ran a search on "shepherd mix California" and up he came. Thought I'd probably get a female, but it being the right dog was more important than anything else, certainly than gender.

When I read about him I thought "Ok, he really might be the one." Called his rescuer, talked. She sent me more photos and a few videos. Thought about it, called her back and asked if I could drive over *that evening* to meet him, and if it looked good, if I'd be able to drive back home with him. She said yes!

Within an hour I was driving 100 miles to meet him, and brought him home that night.

I have no fenced yard here, and there are chickens, ducks, and a cat, so my dog had to be cool with all of these things. No small feat to find! But we found one another, at last.

He was rescued from a very bad situation, chained up in a desert with 49 other dogs, cats, and a cock-fighting ring. No one knew anything about him, his name, age, history, nothing.

He's amaaaaaaazing! He's also a hero, which I won't go into now because this is already a long post. I'm SO HAPPY!!!

All the best to Captain.

Thanks, Hownos. His real name is now Mijo :). He responds to it, even though I like his Captain story very much.

Sure hope this doesn't get misinterpreted : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8MYsii4DZY

Not misinterpreted, and a great song.

Wahoo, Cat! I'm SO happy for you! And Captain, too. When it's right, it's right. I drove 270 miles to pick up my rescue dog, Pepper, a toy poodle. I was planning on adopting one dog, but a week later I went back and picked up his "sister" Brandy. They weren't really related, but they came from the same shelter in Tennessee.

Happy days, Cat!

reply

Thank you, GE!

Wow, you drove the better part of 300 miles to get your rescue, and then make the trip once again for seconds!! Bless your kind ❀️

How did Pepper and Brandy react when they were reunited?

reply

That 270 miles was one way. I swear the rescue mom had the tiniest dog I have ever seen in my life. I don't know what kind of dog it was, but would fit in a beer mug. They were delighted to see each other. I felt better about leaving them while I was at work because they had each other to hang out with. 🐩🐩 😁

Danka, RN!

That's a great song, and we both appreciate your picking it out for us :). I've always liked Cat Stevens, yet this is the first time I've heard that one. A lot of truth to it! πŸ˜„

Gratz indeed Catss! The house is complete now!

Grazi, Jimmy! You're so right, my new place has now become a home :)

He looks like a β€œSweet Boy”. Thank you Cat for....well, just thank you! I like his name, Captain πŸ‘¨β€βœˆοΈ.
Very nice coloring. With you he will become young again in ❀️, therefore he will be that younger companion you wanted. He has a lot of love πŸ’• yet to give you. Congrats!🎈🍾🎊

😻 & πŸ‘¨β€βœˆοΈ A fine pair!

reply

Thanks, Ksp! I know what you mean because I know you've got such a kind heart and love animals, so, you're welcome :)

He may be younger than 7, maybe 5? No matter, as you say, he'll become young again in ❀️, and has a ton of love to give.

I discovered by trial and error his real name, or his former nickname, was Mijo, so now that's his real name because he responds to it and no doubt makes him feel more comfortable and secure. He's a *very* good boy. All he wants to do is please me and be happy.

I already ❀️ him!

I’m aware most of us frown when it comes to pet stores, but I couldn’t help but recall this lively song by Patti Page. It made #1 on the Billboard in 1953. We can think of a rescue shelter window when listening to the tune.

I dedicate it to you and Mijo.
