Does classical music bore you to death ??

Watching paint dry is exciting compared to classical music.

reply

I like classical music during certain moods that I'm in.
It helps me relax.

reply

I never would have seen you as a fan. The stuff gets under my skin like fingernails on a chalkboard.

reply

It can be very calming and peaceful.
I don't know enough about it to have an intelligent conversation.
I usually like the strings and piano.

reply

Don Williams is peaceful and relaxing.

reply

I just scared my dogs from laughing!

This is very true. I can't argue with that.

reply

😊😊😊😊😊

reply

No, quite the opposite.

reply

Im not a fan but it makes for good movie soundtracks, especially really angry violent scenes (Wagner blaring as the Air-Cav attacks the village in Apocolypse Now comes to mind)

reply

It is fine in movie soundtracks. So it has some purpose.

reply

Suppose so:)

Different strokes for different folks...
Fave composers? Chopin and Mozart. Truly some of the most beautiful music ever composed....

reply

Not at all.. In fact, the opposite as it tends to be too intense to listen to while doing other things... I always feel the need to sit and listen, to immerse myself in the music rather than do anything else...

Listen to Vivaldi's Four Seasons for example, Summer or Winter... But make sure you listen to a decent recording and listen loud... As loud as you would rock music... It should be pretty exciting...

Wagner's ride of the valkyries is anything but boring...

reply

Not at all. But David Bowie's music does...

reply

that says a lot

reply

lord yes.

reply

thank you.

reply

anytime bud :D

reply

a lot more fans on here than I thought.

reply

same. i'll never understand it.

reply

Yes I know (sigh). What is your favorite kind of music, hownos, elevator?

😎

reply

The Beatles/Stones/Cash. The voice makes the music. Classical music has no voice. It's great for background music in a movie but otherwise forgotten.

reply

(Long, deep sigh.)

Have you ever listened to any of Beethoven's nine symphonies? Specifically have you ever listened to the Ninth, Fourth Movement? It has a whole CHORUS of voices.

😎

reply

That's a choir. I would rather listen to Dylan or The Who.

reply

So you've never actually listened to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Fourth Movement? Okay I'll make a deal with you. The Ode to Joy from the Fourth Movement is attached. Actually listen to the whole thing, it only runs 8:21. Then afterwards if you tell me that you're bored by it, and I will never mention classical music again to you.

Deal?

reply

I will try and listen to it. I am not upset or anything. You can discuss classical music all you want.

reply

Oh I know you're not upset, and neither am I. You're not that type of guy. Everyone is entitled to like what floats their boat.

Just please listen to it. Thanks.

reply

Yes it is. So is classical.

😎

reply

I listened and barely got through it. Same thing over and over and over.

reply

Okay. I won't bore you with any more.

"Opera is a key part of the Western classical music tradition."

From the Wikipedia page for Opera.

And yes Pavarotti's 'O Holy Night' is magnificent.

reply

Yes I know that's your point. I am just pointing out that your point is wrong...

reply

classical music drones on and on.

reply

Some of it does I agree, but a good deal of it does not.
