Iconic Movie Structures...

Every so often a movie comes along that features a very specific house, shack, fortress or palace that just sticks in our heads for decades afterward...

I would like to mention the creepy old Cabin from Evil Dead (81)
You just knew that place would be trouble the minute Ash pulled his car up front and man it did not let us down :0

The real cabin burned down shortly after the Raimis finished the shoot and was located in Morristown, Tennessee...

Too bad too
It really just needed a good sweeping and some paint and love to make it real sweet for deer season and fishing trips!

Any favorite movie structures you would care to share?

The Bradbury Building (Blade Runner, Lethal Weapon 4)

Griffith Observatory (Rebel Without a Cause, Terminator series, The Rocketeer, Transformers, La La Land)

The Philadelphia Museum of Art where Rocky ran up the steps in the first film of the franchise. They've actually become known as The Rocky Steps over the decades.

Rocky Steps seems a perfect name

I like how i started this to be about places people lived but everyone got creative and fun

Thx man

That's a great one, db.

reply

Thanks. I was somewhat surprised it hadn't been mentioned yet.

reply

& I can't come up with a damn thing. I even looked over my movie shelves. Nothing. I'm a blank!

reply

That's odd since you seem to have such a detailed knowledge/memory of a variety of films. Btw, you've been really cool with me since arriving here, consistently providing positive feedback. I consider you an asset to the site.

reply

Thanks, db, it's a great bunch of fellows here. I am so impressed at the knowledge and wisdom of MC.

It's indeed a fine group.

Rosemary's Baby. In the film, Rosemary and her husband, Guy moved into The Braum. I believe that is what the building was called in the story. Fun fact.........
John Lennon, would one day live (and in 1980 be murdered) in the Manhattan apartment building called The Dakota--where this movie had been filmed.

reply

Yes!
The Dakota
Prime real estate and lots of famous folks over the years
