Don't have a problem with being addressed as db one bit; matter of fact, I like it.

If it was something where it matters, like a paper or article...I guess.

In posts online, text messages and other largely informal settings. No it makes no difference to me.

I hate the butchering of our lexicon. I'll never get used to it.

reply

I think part of it is how much technology assists as we type. Except from a child I generally never see capitalization issues on names in handwritten items. However most people do not take the time for capitalization in text and such because a lot of available software corrects for that and we are normally typing quickly. If I type Robert in my cell phone it will automatically capitalize it and sometimes it will do it in Word and also depending on which browser you use in there as well.

Oddly enough it does not feel natural to capitalize in text message, on a full size keyboard I just use a finger to hit shift as you go, its not quite as natural on a small keyboard on a cell phone. Its not hard so much as its slows the flow.

"I suppose language is just evolving,I'll have to get used to it."

Language isn't evolving. It's going to HELL!.

I will NEVER get used to that. If something calls for a capital letter, use it!

Education really has gone down the drain when you can't even construct a sentence, beginning with a capital letter.

No. It's fine.

For me, they're also okay.

I'm even okay with typos, grammatical errors, memes and misuse of punctuations.

It has been a while since I have been to school. It's even been many years since our son attended.....
I can't help wondering what is taught in school now. Is spelling, punctuation, phoenix and grammar even important? It dosen't seem as though any of that matters today....
Not from what I have seen on the internet.
I know that I'm not perfect. I am certain that I make many grammatical errors.
I do find it sad that so many people no longer care

Phoenix?

reply

LOL! see what I mean? I was actually usin spell check for that. It got away from me!
Phonics? Is that what I was trying to grasp? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I like to learn.

reply

How about starting a sentence with a number? Does that bother you?

reply

[deleted]

Yeah... happens all time time.

9 out of 10 people do this.

Rude, ignorant, lazy and unacceptable.

reply

Generally, no. Sometimes it's merely a matter of the slip of a finger off the shift key, sometimes it's habit.

reply

[deleted]

Sometimes people have legit reasons to write in all lower case. Sometimes, as I said, it's just that their finger slipped off the shift key, and/or they're typing too fast and sloppily.

For most it is natural.

reply

It really is rude and lazy.

It's one the first things you learn when you start writing.
It should be natural.
It's almost like it takes more thought NOT to do it.

"It's almost like it takes more thought NOT to do it."

YES! There are times when I wonder if people are going out of their way to appear....
NO! Nobody would want others to think that they are stupid! Would they????

reply

It seems more of people going against what they know
to be proper.
Kind of like you can't tell me how to do it.
They don't think they look stupid. That's even scarier to think about.

I don't think I have ever seen my name spelled without a capital... hmmm...
