Damned random earworms in my head!

My last pair of earbuds went out, so in the interim before getting a new set, I've been without my usual music.

Last two days I've had some truly random songs pop into my head, stuff that I doubt I'm hearing anywhere.

Early yesterday was Guns N Roses, I think it was Patience, or November Rain. I forget now. Then yesterday afternoon was "You're the one that I want" from Grease.

Now this morning it's "Home on the Range." WTF? Where did that one come from?

Anyone else get completely random songs in their head?

I do, all the time.

The closing credits theme from Red Dwarf has been stuck in my head all afternoon today.

Goldfish shoals, nibbling at my toes. Fun, Fun, Fun in the Sun, Sun, Sun. All. Afternoon.

reply

All the frickin' time.

Recently I've had "The Chain" stuck in my head, but that makes sense because I saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2 over the weekend. Also, "Don't Stop Believing" is stuck in my head now because it was playing in a store I just visited.

But other times it's completely random. Or triggered by some phrase.

Even worse are random movie quotes/scenes that I can't remember the context of.

That sounds more creative than counting sheep!

Nah, I cave in and look at the dreaded IMDb for stuff like that. Sometimes if I feel like something is on the tip of my tongue I'll mull it over for a while and try to come up with it on my own.

Before bed, my mind wanders off so far I don't even bother rearing it in.

reply

I always do that. Sometimes my sister will look it up and give me little hints, like if I'm hot or cold.

reply

You aren't alone. Everyone gets some song stuck in their mind at one time or another. I know it can drive you crazy. Sing it to somebody else. songs have a way of jumping from head to head. [smiley face]

songs have a way of jumping from head to head

I can see someone walking down the street, singing something catchy, while others run away screaming "HE'S INFECTIOUS! HE'S SPREADING EARWORMS!"

Or she... But I think a woman walking around singing would be more likely to get people to join in. With a guy, he's most likely a crazy person.

" With a guy, he's most likely a crazy person."

Well, like I said.... it can drive you crazy.

That damn Lonely Boy song... I hear it once on the TV and it's in my head all day!

reply

At least it's a good song.
Maybe this will help.

Oh oh oh I got a love that keeps me waiting- I’m a lonely boy

reply

Oh, thank you, I only listen to it a bajillion times a day, and now it's following me here?

BTW that man dancing in the video is adorable.

reply

I've never seen the video. I'll have to check it out.

I'm sure the man dancing can't nearly be as adorable as you.

reply

I am adorable, but how would you really know that, if you've never seen me? Or have you? Dun-dun-duun!

The video is a simple as they come, but I like it.

reply

How could you not be adorable. Right ? Once again mind blown.

You are correct though. I told Dazed for all she knew I was her next door neighbor.
The joy of the internet.

reply

I do. When I start singing the random song everyone thinks I'm nuts. But I kind of am so they just carry on. :)

The Baywatch theme song has been bothering me lately...

For a long time I used to sing Green, Green Grass Of Home under the shower. It drove my family crazy.
