"Whites only" breakfast at my job

My job brings in breakfast every Tuesday (I know, "why Tuesday"), and today when I went to grab some food, the big tray's foil lid had "WHITES ONLY" written on top of it.

Of course it's because the container had scrambled eggs made only with egg whites, but I couldn't help laughing at that. I wonder if it was intentional or if someone wrote that without realizing what it looked like.

I wasn't the only one who laughed at this. I think they usually just write "whites" or "egg whites."

I saw an irony in this...

It reminds me of one of our paper brands, Universal One. All their non-white paper is labeled "Colored" and you can only tell the color by the color of the label, there is no name for the color (just a code).

In fact, found it: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71wdgua9YQL._SY355_.jpg

All the other paper brands would call that "green" or some variation thereof, but nope, Universal One labels every color "Colored."

Oh wait, it's even worse -- The color of the label is always green. That color in the picture is the cream-colored circle. The one I had handy is pink, and it has a green label too. Only on the bottom can you see the actual color, it's not named anywhere!

This:

"I'm sure it was some one who was in a hurry and wasn't thinking."

is probably what was going on.

Anybody that takes offense to this as explained to us by the OP is looking way too hard to find offenses that were not intended. Tell me that somebody who is not white was working in the same kitchen then I will allow my own blood pressure to rise over it. The person in the kitchen was thinking in terms of completing their job and no more. What's next? Somebody taking offense because the table instructions included "No china" meaning disposable plates and utensils therefore thinking any persons from a certain eastern Asian country were not included to be served at the table. Time to break out the Lou Antonio-Frank Gorshin face paint kit.

Agreed, fully. No one here was offended, we all thought it was hilarious, and three of the fellow employees were black ladies (with good senses of humor). And this is a law firm, we sue on behalf of discriminated people regularly!

It's pretty tasteless, needs Tapatio. I prefer regular scrambled eggs, personally. Not sure why some people fear the yolk. Is it cholesterol? We need some cholesterol in our diet.

Now if a tray showed up at a buffet for Police labeled "Bacon" AND "Whites only," there might be some real confusion LOL

That's dumb, but hilarious.

I wonder if it would be bad press for a pizza place to put up ads that say "BLACK OLIVES MATTER"

This is the funniest coincidence I've encountered in a while.

I read this thread a few days ago. Today I stopped by my mom's house. I was reading the church bulletin for her church.

Once a year the Catholic Medical Organization has its yearly mass celebrated by the bishop. All physicians, nurses, med students, etc., are invited. It's called The Annual White Mass!
Yeah WHITE Mass. It's refers to their white lab coats and nurses USED TO wear white uniforms.

But what a funny coincidence. It could be called The Annual Medical Personnel Mass. Someone clearly didn't think that title through. LOL

I've encounter writen on the casserole " non-stressed eggs",so i'm not surprised...

Your posts look similar to FarSideObserver's posts.

I wonder where he wandered off too..

At last! A decent, humorous anecdote about diversity! I too had the kneejerk reaction when I read the title.
