Why can't anybody make ONE horror movie with intelligent people?

HALF the cast in Orphan were smart. But the other half was STUPID. Kate, Danny,Sister Abigail, and Max were SMART. Jon, The Grandma, and Dr. Browning were STUPID. Well, maybe stupid isn't the right word. More like easily led. John thought that Esther was an innocent little girl and Kate was wrong in her assumptions that Esther was NOT an innocent little girl until she tried to seduce him and he brushed her off and realized that Kate was right that Esther was NOT an innocent little girl. I love the scene where Esther(Villain Protagonist of the movie) "innocently" asks The Grandma to give her a dollar for soda(In reality, she was planning to kill Danny). Max IMMEDIATELY gives a look like, "This Bitch is up to something bad!" and goes after her. Esther starts smothering Danny with a pillow and he is shown being still. Lucky enough, Max alerted her parents to Danny being unconscious and they called his doctors who saved his life. It was really sad that a SIX year old could see that Esther was up to no good and The Grandma couldn't see it. Of course, Esther DOES come back drinking a soda and Kate slaps her figuring correctly that Esther did something bad to her and tried to hit her again and was immediately sedated by doctors as she DID look like a grown adult unprovokingly attacking an innocent little girl.

You know what? I'm not even sure of why this is even a big concern.
It's interesting to see the number of films that have been listed. I like this.
I like many horror movies though. You can still have dumb characters in an entertaining horror movie. A list???? Here's a few....

Motel Hell
The Deranged
An American Werewolf in London
Night Nurse

We also have to agree on intelligence when it comes to the behavior of the characters.

Try Get Out

It would be a very short movie because the smart people would just get out of Dodge.

Because its hard to be intelligent when you can't think straight, especially if your fearful of whatever it is out to get you, you tend to make bad decisions.

Do not want to spend money to make a better script. Better to make a film with special effects and short script to keep budget low.

Was the cast stupid in Jaws? Its been so long since I've seen that.

They can't have intelligent people, because at the first sign of weirdness, intelligent people would "Get the hell out of Dodge!" Thus the movie would be very short.
