What Bothers You Most About the Movie Industry?

Emphasis on stupid movies, lack of attention to great movies, certain cliches, anything you want... Curious to read your responses.

Well this is probably not the type of answer you wanted, but for me now the only issue is ticket prices.

I am NOT spending practically half my weekly food shopping bill nowadays on ONE ticket to see a fcking movie.

And I used to go to the movie theater ALL the time back when it was more reasonably priced.

How was it then to now? Just curious.

The catering to the dumbing down of the American public.

Mostly, the shunning of authentic storytelling through dialog, exposition and imagery.

It seems everything has to be a non stop action sequence and any attempt at exposition boils down to some simplified, "bad man hurt Jane. Tarzan smash!"

Look at Star Trek or Star Wars. The originals told a story, immersed the viewer in the visuals, took time to develop the narrative. The new ones, not so much.

The lack of fresh ideas,no more remakes, please😪

Hollywood. I prefer foreign films to Hollywood or even American indies because some part of the superficial consumerist culture almost always seeps through. "shopping" is not a hobby.

In addition, i don't like vulgarity in any form, witless comedies ala judd apatow are Inspid.

Dumb movies, untalented actors, nepotism, countless sequels and remakes, over the top feminism and political correctness. Every sitcom since the early 90s used the fat, immature moron dad and bitchy, attractive, smarter wife formula, it got old really fast. I like police shows but female tv police officers are very unrealistic, they have 100 lb women easily beating up guys built like Dwayne Johnson and that doesn't work in real life. Some examples are AJ Cook on Criminal Minds and Grace Park on Hawaii Five-O.

[email protected] responded to you as well. He replied to my comment by accident and I just wanted to be sure you knew. There are no notifications set for anyone, who replies to anyone else, within a given thread, and so this is the only way you would have known.

Thanks!

I don't know.

It seems that for about a decade they've remade just about every movie that's ever been made. It seems that their originality and creativity has decreased.

The emphasis on nudity and sexuality bothers me. The fact that just about every attractive actress will probably end up doing some nude or partially nude scene and have to do some semi-sex scene in some film.....if she wants to work because just about every film has that. It's all for titillation and has no real merit. To tell a story doesn't actually require us to watch the entire sex act.

They throw something into almost all movies even when it has nothing to do with anything. Batman vs. Superman for example. It's a comic book movie about super heroes. There is the scene where Amy Adams just happens to be naked in the tub and talks to SM for like two minutes nude until they finally start having sex. Technically it didn't really show her, it was all hidden but you could tell she really had to be nude, nude in front of the set and male actor to do that scene.

As a man with a wife and daughter why would I ever want either of them involved in acting? It is a shame that is how it has to be for women.

You certainly will love French cinema 😉

Because it pays $. Then again, since you are footing the bill for them, it will come secondary.

Wow, you guys have nailed it on the head.... Factory made, horrible writing, bad acting, trivia, gossip, vulgarity as time filler, politically correct, safe, redundant....
