You are speaking like the future event is out of left field. They are surveilling the group heavily and have tons of security and informants. It should be just as easy as instantaneously finding out where a missile came from in the fog of war. Amount of surveillance did not change, but we are to believe that "now" they are paying attention to what they are seeing.

Incompetence in prediction doesn't necessarily translate into incompetence in properly analyzing an event that already occurred. With the former there is limited time but with the latter there is no limit on time. Furthermore, a forensic investigation of an explosion is completely different from putting together numerous pieces of intelligence to ascertain if, when, where and what human actors will do at some point in the future. You're comparing apples and oranges.

These are the rockets Hamas uses and they're notorious for their inaccuracy. They've had a number of these misfires before. Conversely, Israel's Iron Dome defense system is considered to be 90-97% accurate. shareRight now I don't know what to believe. Both Israel and Hamas are capable of intentionally or unintentionally doing something like this. My own personal bias wants Israel to be the good guys (at least in regards to this specific incident) and I am leaning towards Hamas being responsible. There are some reports of sketchy behavior by Israel deleting a tweet it put up and Israel using an old video as evidence of the failed rocket. But given what Biden said and that Israel would have to be insane to bring on this PR nightmare knowing that the world is already suspicious and less supportive of their general approach to Palestine I think Hamas probably did it unintentionally.
