Do you think these shooters are mainly motivated by politcal beliefs/ideology rather than simply being insane?

It seems quite interesting, because it seems most times into the investigations that these shooters are revealed to have a known history for having especially strong political opinions and ideologies. It may go deeper than "there are just crazy".

Army discharged him because he was a mental in 2008. Why was he allowed to have guns?

reply

I think it's more that extremist ideologies appeal to and easily influence the crazy and/or stupid.

Nutjobs don't want to hear rationality and measured responses. They want jewish space lasers and to hear how George Soros is directly responsible for every bad thing in their lives.

reply

Liberals think it is the guns that make people snap and kill. According to them, these mass shooters are just like everyone else until they get a gun in their hands and its seductive evil forces them to kill.

reply

Right-wing gun nuts are arming criminals, crazies and kiddies.

You're also arming the #1 U.S. threat. Domestic terrorists far-right extremists, white supremacists and Neo-Nazis to whom you believe are very "fine people".

reply

Do you even believe the insanity that you type out on a daily basis?

I'm honestly starting to think you're a parody account.

You and your far-right extremist pals are dangerous nutjobs:

"According to DHS, there were 231 domestic terrorism incidents between 2010 and 2021. Of these, about 35% (the largest category) were classified as racially- or ethnically-motivated. These attacks were also the most lethal.

Anti-government or anti-authority motivated violent extremism was the second largest category of incidents, and resulted in 15 deaths over the same time period.

There were also domestic terrorism incidents linked to animal rights extremists and abortion-related violent extremists, among other motivations."

(1) White supremacists and other far-right-wing extremists are the most significant domestic terrorism threat facing the United States."

I don't believe that guns gives people new ideas. Someone would have to have some kind of prior mental trigger in their head in order to actually carry out a shooting spree. That's like saying watching violent movies can turn you into a killer with no prior criminal or mental history.

reply

Many of them are copycat killings

reply

It's both.

One feeds the other, and you are left with a negative feedback loop that ends in murdered people.

Negative feedback loop is an excellent way to describe it. Columbine is a good example. Inspired a thousand would be killers

reply

There are so many mass shooters, there is no single motivation, other than gun culture has encouraged them to deal with their issues by shooting people

reply

I blame the culture of nihilism.
