California Lockdown

We all got an Amber Alert type buzz on our phones this afternoon. Dad and I were walking the dog at the time, and I took one look at the Covid-19 message on my phone and told dad our state government could go piss themselves.

After all the stupidity and hypocrisy they've shown, and the fact that these lockdowns haven't done jack shit to stop the virus, I say to hell with them. Good luck trying to enforce these lockdowns; we barely have enough cops in this state as it is. The ones in my town won't even talk to you unless you've been shot!

reply

I'm going to be a little controversial here and say that in America and some other places the virus is so widespread that going on about masks seems like trying to stop the Titanic from sinking by using bubblegum to plug the massive hole.

reply

I honestly don't think the lockdowns are working. The virus is still surging, despite locking everyone up in their homes, isolating patients in the hospitals, and making everyone wear masks. Either the news is lying about the number of people getting infected and dying (wouldn't be the first time), or something else is going on that's allowing the virus to still spread.

reply

I think there is a point of no return when it just gets so bad you can't fix it. In the state I live in Australia we had some very harsh lockdowns spanning 8 months. There was a small break in the middle which just sparked a rise in cases so we locked down harder.

We have now had 0 cases for well over a month. Most of Australia has 0 cases.

Many of us actually stayed home though. I am classed as an essential worker so I had go to work when I couldn't WFH but I could tell by how empty the trains and roads were that many people did the right thing.

I'm all for Freedom and all but that comes with responsibility, from what I have noticed a lot of Americans really are willing to die for the freedom to go out and get a burger or whatever. Or to riot in BLM rallies etc

reply

It's gotten so bad here that many people are starting to have mental problems. One woman even committed suicide when she heard about a second lockdown coming in Oregon. Couples and families are getting divorces, kids are missing out on important stuff, despite virtual schooling, domestic violence has gone through the roof, and a bunch of people have lost their jobs or their businesses have gone down the tubes. It's horrifying to hear :(

reply

Well that doesn’t matter to some on this board. You are greedy and selfish if you don’t stay home.🙄 You know who you are! Ever since Covid-19, the nitwits believe it’s more important to stay home, teach your kids because they don’t belong in school. The kids may bring the disease home and infect those around them. These people could care less if people lost their jobs. They could care less if the country tanks! They say hire a sitter if you absolutely have to work. It’s so easy telling people how to live when the naysayers have no idea of the life circumstances people find themselves in daily.

One in six restaurants have closed forever laying off thousands of workers. And Harris/Biden want to have open borders. They are hell bent in bringing down the country resulting in complete control of the populace.

reply

Have to wonder about open borders when CoVid cases are so high in the USA. And a lot of the people they let in will be South American where some of the countries also have high CoVid cases. Reminds me of the expression "cannon fodder".

reply

If this were a responsible website, you'd have your account locked down for spreading disinformation. All this made up crap you constantly spew is disgusting. I wish every good American could see your posts and denounce you for being a shrill liar.

reply

Yeah it is bad, even now down here with things open it's not like these little businesses are just going to bounce back or people are going to become employed again.

reply

They are 100% lying about the number of cases. I know some people that work in the medical field and they had some patients who died from a heart attack or cancer for example and the doctor marked them down as a victim of COVID and they passed away from COVID. Liars, deceit, dishonesty; this is all BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!

reply

yep. the information has been out there but people refuse to see it. Even I fall into the numbers trap sometimes. Cases are about positive tests. so if you take 3 tests throughout the week and get 3 positives, that's 3 cases.

We also forget that the cases/deaths listed during the governors' daily briefings aren't necessarily from that day. they could be from 3 weeks to 3 months prior. That's where I get caught up. Oh! we had 5 deaths today? until you realize 1 could be from July, one from may...it's all about how the story is spun and it's sad that people let it happen.

reply

It’s sad that they are scaring the public so much. There are some people I know that are extremely paranoid about this. I for one am not scared of this at all. I have a knack to see right through bullshit.

reply

Wear your dust mask damnit. You know the one whose directions warn that this is NOT a medical device. Yeah that one, the one 99% of people wear. That one. The one that does N O T H I N G

Yes. That. One.

reply

Yeah, my brother didn't like hearing that part, though I tried to make him feel better by telling him that the black masks with the filter are "safer."

reply

Screw it. My husband and I are not going to do the lockdown either. I mean really, what’s the point? It doesn’t work!!

reply

What makes me angry is they aren't talk about how many people have survived this illness, versus how many "died." All they ever focus on is how many deaths there are. I remember back in February and March, how the news people on tv just hammed it up for all it was worth. I know one guy who called it "disaster porn." Even worse, all the lamestream news stations read from the same script, which I would normally find suspicious, but honestly, it doesn't surprise me.

reply

What makes me mad also is that the total death rate for the world's population is only 1%. 1%!!!!! This is why people are panicking so much?!?! Give me a freaking break!!!!

reply

I'm also suspicious about what happened right as the lockdowns were slowly being lifted this past summer. Less than a week or two after the spring lockdowns started being lifted, we suddenly get the George Floyd riots, as if someone was planning on using the infections from the protestors and rioters to make the virus surge again, and force more lockdowns for summer and early fall.

reply

What do you mean "you're not going to do it."? If things are closed, you don't really have a choice. We're not confined to our homes and can still go out for walks and such. With that said, I staunchly disagree with the closure of small businesses like restaurants. Far too many people have already lost their livelihood.

reply

You’re right. I have no choice. I was clearly speaking out of anger and frustration. 😞

reply

At least that She’s All That remake is coming along nicely.

reply

Lockdown starts tonight for Northern California counties. It will start tonight after 11:30 PM. Oh boy, here we go again....

reply

The only thing I'm really worried about is any rioting or protesting going on. I'm hoping they'll stay away from my neighborhood.

reply

I hope it doesn't happen either. I live in Roseville and it is a very safe city but, I worry about nearby cities like Sacramento. Lots of riots occur there....
