Donald apparently wanted migrants to be shot on the border/alligators placed in a moat around the border wall

Now I've seen it all...

WASHINGTON — A book excerpt published Tuesday describes a turbulent week inside the Trump administration in March as the president ordered staff to shut down the United States' 2,000-mile border with Mexico.

According to reporting from the New York Times, President Donald Trump had at times privately talked about “fortifying a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators, prompting aides to seek a cost estimate. He wanted the wall electrified, with spikes on top that could pierce human flesh.”

Additionally, after aides told him that his public suggestion of soldiers shooting migrants if they threw rocks was illegal, he backed down. But, he later suggested that they “shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down.”

"That’s not allowed either, (staff) told him," according to the excerpt.

The article published Tuesday was adapted from “Border Wars: Inside Trump’s Assault on Immigration,” a book to be published on Oct. 8 by Times reporters Michael Shear and Julie Hirschfeld Davis.

The article is based on interviews with more than a dozen White House administration officials who were granted anonymity, describing a "frenzied week of presidential rages" that included "around-the-clock staff panic and far more White House turmoil than was known at the time," according to the Times.

Adding profanity, Trump shouted, "You are making me look like an idiot! I ran on this. It's my issue,” during a meeting that included White House Aide Stephen Miller, former Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, then-Customs and Border Protection chief Kevin McAleenan, acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, as well as presidential adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, according to the book excerpt.

The comments came around the same time the President publicly threatened to close the border, saying he would if “Mexico doesn’t get with it." Trump later backed off from that threat.

“The president was frustrated and I think he took that moment to hit the reset button,” Thomas D. Homan, who served as Trump’s acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, told the Times. “The president wanted it to be fixed quickly.’’

The book excerpt includes details that Trump “routinely berated” Nielsen as “ineffective and, worse — at least in his mind — not tough-looking enough."

During a briefing over the necessity for new legal authority to bring down drones, Trump reportedly told Nielsen that she “didn’t hear me the first time, honey. Shoot ’em down. Sweetheart, just shoot ’em out of the sky, OK?”

“The happiest [Trump] had been with [DHS Secretary] Nielsen was a few months earlier, when American border agents had fired tear gas into Mexico to try to stop migrants from crossing into the United States," the Times reported.

Democrats were quick to express their outrage after the excerpt published.

Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez said that “cruelty has always been the point,” with the president. Rep. Eric Swalwell tweeted that Trump’s actions usually fall “into one of three buckets: cruel, childish, or corrupt.”

Wow...what a sick, depraved, evil psychopath.

OF COURSE the Trumpers are calling this "fake news". We already knew they would. The ones here will call it "fake" as well, undoubtedly.

reply

Stopped reading as soon as I saw New York Times as a source.

reply

The same “unnamed insiders” the NYTimes and the communist Democrat party/media used to guarantee Trump Russia collusion for 3 years. Still zero evidence.

But I’m sure this story is true. Orangeman bad.

reply

Fake story but you can still buy the book and use the pages for the bottom of birdcage to catch the poop with. That is better than using thr Times for that.

reply

T-rump, T-rump, T-rump!!! Orange!! Cheeto!! I need a safe space!!

reply

You Trumpers keep talking about these "safe spaces" but I've never seen one in all my life. You guys sure know a lot about these safe spaces...

Speaking from experience?

PS: Ever consider that If Donald WASN'T a bullying, psychotic lunatic who insults any Americans who don't agree with him that maybe people would be calling him those names? The bully brings it all on himself. What a shame that you will neither see nor care to ever see that.

reply

Lol!! You mean like the bullying, psychotic lunatic Democrats who insult any Americans who don't agree with them? Do they bring it on themselves? I don't think you will see nor care to ever see that.

reply

I don't see democrats going on twitter and national tv on a daily basis, raging about Americans who don't agree with them, claiming they have "derangement syndrome", etc.

You sound like a child. In fact--every damn Trumper I've ever conversed with online sounds like they have the same mental capacity as Trump: a whiny child. I guess I shouldn't expect anything more from someone who would cast a vote for Donald Trump.

PS: It's quite tiring dealing with constant deflection posts from you guys--ESPECIALLY deflections to democrats. First of all, I'm not a democrat. Secondly, I'm not even a fan of many democrat policies.

Come up with some new material. GOD, I swear you guys all sound the same--as if you just pass around the same peanut brain between each other when you post. I literally can't tell you from any other Trumper around here.

reply

You are as guilty of deflection as the next guy. You haven't noticed the anti Trump folks here doing exactly what you accuse Trump supporters of doing?

reply

Show me examples of my deflection on this board. Right now. Show me.

List them here. Link them.

I'll wait.

reply

Read your previous post.

reply

Not only is LordBootLick's reply a deflection, it also turned into a safe space for other Trumpers to hide from the reality of how stupid Trump is.

reply

Exactly. I've noticed all the Trumpers on this board are clinging very strongly to fall accusations as of late as well as distorting reality.

Just amazing--Trump has a free cheerleader team that will bend over backwards to defend him at every turn. They always "interpret" Trump and "what he really meant". If trump was so great then he wouldn't need a bevy of cheerleaders hard at work "explaining" his actions and making constant excuses for him.

reply

They call all factual news 'fake news'. They believe in conspiracies, not facts.

reply

I've seen Trumpers call recorded video of Trump saying something "fake news", I sh!t you not.

reply

As childishone likes to say, "Delusional".

reply

Once again this comes down to the difference between globalists and nationalists. Globalists don't care about porous borders because "we are all one". Nationalists want secure borders because they don't believe "we are all one" and they are right. Because if "we were all one" then people wouldn't be leaving their shitholes and trying to get into Western country of their choice. And the more of them who do that the more the Western country of their choice will become like the shithole they left behind.

My wife originally immigrated from a country that would be considered 3rd world and she is a US citizen today and considered the BEST person in the company she works in.

I know dozens of immigrants from 3rd world countries who are all well off financially and hard workers.

I do believe you are full of sh!t.

reply

A handful of good stories is not the basis of a comprehensive argument. Or to put it another way I believe you are the one who is full of shit.

reply

Then research statistics for welfare recipients. Immigrants (legal and illegal) make up the absolute LOWEST percentage of state aid/welfare recipients by FAR.

I know many immigrants. I provided a basis for my argument. All you are doing is spewing FOX/Breitbart/Trump nonsense/

reply

Oh yes I know all about statistics. I used to work in market research and we provided the most flexible statistical outcomes money could buy...

reply

If she’s a citizen she came here through legal controlled immigration. Thanks for sharing your wonderful story.

reply

Of course she did and we paid a lot of money and filled out countless forms to make it all happen.

The reason I bring it up is because, while we did it legally, I can still sympathize with many illegal immigrants.

Yes, they need to go about the process legally but our system is also broken. Also, there are more humane ways to deal with illegal immigrants--not Donald's Gestapo tactics.

Illegal immigrants need to pay the same fees and fill out the same forms for citizenship that my wife did--but they need to be presented the OPTION of doing so. Just throwing people out willy-nilly is inhumane any way you cut it. Criminals, I can understand. People working for a living? It's wrong and no one will convince me otherwise.

We paid many thousands of dollars to make this happen. A lot of work. A lot of paper. A lot of biometrics and interviews. All that I can still say that I think illegal immigrants should be treated better if they don't have a criminal background.

It comes down to simple, common, human decency.

reply

Because if "we were all one" then people wouldn't be leaving their shitholes and trying to get into Western country of their choice. And the more of them who do that the more the Western country of their choice will become like the shithole they left behind.

I'll take 'What did Tucker Carlson say on his show last night ?' for a thousand, Alex.

reply

You really are a broken record

reply

You really are a loser.

reply

Glass houses, throwing stones, you get it. Or you don't, I forgot you aren't that bright.

reply

Orange Head should be placed in a moat with alligators, along with all of the Trumpistas!!!

reply

The fat hog would feed the gators for months.

reply

Apparently Trump thinks alligators are as dangerous as crocodiles. Alligators leave you alone unless they are near their young. Just keep your dog or small child away from them and you're good.

reply

Trump would actually have to READ something and EDUCATE himself to know that, so...
