Way better than Mandalorian imo

Deep story and decently above average writing. Story focusing on high office life soon turned Rebel Alliance leader, an artifact collector wanting to spark an uprising, a thief soon turned rebel to steal Death Star plans, an officer trying to prove himself by upholding law & order while enacting justice, and an intel officer looking to quash the rebellion before it gets off the ground. Multiple stories that are well grounded for the most part.

No woke topics, all serious drama, I just love it. I found the Imperials are more diversified which I like because certain people were always complaining about, "Oh they made the bad guys White again" trope but now we have competent diverse characters that are great at being evil themselves. It also seems like the Pre-Mor security aim better than your regular Stormtroopers.

If that's your opinion....then your opinion is wrong.

Mandalorian was very shallow. Entertaining, but not much going in between the ears. Andor comes with plenty of weight! The best Star Wars product for a long time.

reply

Well, honestly my childhood was from the Original Trilogy days and The Mandalorian does a good job of creating the vibe of those films. So, of course that's what I'd feel was better. The Book of Boba Fett had some of those moments.

This one, I'm sort of enjoying so far, but there are so many characters going on that it doesn't seem like it's about Andor. Perhaps it's leading up to something, so we shall see.

Certainly a different SW to what we all knew as kids.

If i want to watch something with a lot of Weight. Ill watch Schindler's List. Sorry, but this dosn't come close to that. The only time this got remotely interesting was during prison stuff. Everything Before and After that was a waste of time. Is Mando shallow. Maybe, its not trying to be Schindlers List of Star Wars and completely failing at it.

reply

I'm not comparing it to Schindler's List, you did that. You finding the prison story line the most interesting makes sense as I found that part to be completely redundant, it made no impact on the over all story, it was just there to give Andor something to do while the real story was taking place. We just have different tastes so it seems.

I like it. They've given the story some gravitas and are dealing with the material in a more adult manner. I welcome the change of tone that's giving the series its own identity and even though it is slow in parts at least they've shown they're willing to try a more thoughtful approach which bodes well for future series to explore the star wars concept in more depth. Nice to see the empire (and the stormtroopers) not treated as some kind of ineffectual joke this time (which has really damaged star wars since Return Of The Jedi).

It feels like a middle aged BBC One (UK TV Channel) drama in places. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but the long conversation scenes will lose viewers who just want explosions and wookiees.

When it does get going at the end of episode 4 and in episode 6 it is actually pretty damn good.

It feels so removed from Star Wars because of its grown up tone that there is a party scene in episode 7 where there are Star Wars aliens in the background and they just seem totally out of place due to the show at that point feeling like a show for reasonably intelligent adults that takes itself seriously.

I like it and it feels like a quality product, but I can see it being cancelled pretty quickly because it is not made for five year olds.

That want we need for Star Wars. Make it into something that only Adults can watch. And Give the Kiddies the Boot. It worked so well for Comic Books. Its not like there struggling at all. Frankly this was just a boring Soap Opera, It goes from being a Boring Heist Movie to a Boring Prison Movie. I could watch Ocean's Eleven and The Shawshank Redemption back to back. And it would 10 more satisfying than this. On top of that, Nobody Watched it. Also stormtroopers were horrible shots well before Return of the Jedi. Pretty much been that way since A New Hope.

It's woke, but in a good way.

in some ways

Controversial but true. And Mando is pretty darn good.

At least Mandalorian is entertaining and has likable characters. Andor is like Star Wars for pretentious people. Who think people sitting around talking for 5 episode straight is awesome. Im on episode 5. Its boring as shit.
