First rule of house robots.....

...dont make robots strong. Make their arms, legs and torso from lightweight materials so that they would not have enough power to physically hurt human if malfunctioning. And if they do - person can kick them and break their legs-arms.

That should have been first rule for any company that makes such robot dolls or robot helpers like in I Robot. Instead those idiots make robots from metal and then those robots gain consciousness and kill humans with such ease.

They should make this a law for robot firms like Boston Dynamics etc. Dont make strong robots.

But then your $50 000 robot breaks and needs expansive repairs if it bumps into an obstacle.

To really help humans, future robots would need to be strong. Such as care robots for disabled or elderly people.

Well then you’ll have M3gans who will go crazy any moment and start killing people.

Its amazing how could that maker make this robot so strong and then give a prototype to her niece.

reply

The issue is her AI and programming which is way too advanced to be a toy or even an house keeping robot. This is decades ahead and far beyond what people are actually working on nowadays.

reply

They don't need to be strong to kill you

reply

No, you wont, because real AI does not work like horror movies attempt to turn people into luddites.

reply

These kinds of dolls would put maids out of business.

reply

So less illegal employment?

reply

Possibly, and fewer illegitimate children and divorces.

reply

You're so right dude. When will these people learn ? Marshmellow robots would be so cute ...

reply

Yeah, I knew making it from titanium alloy would turn out to be a mistake.

reply

So, you’ve not read Asimov’s short story collection, “I, Robot.”

And I don’t mean the travesty of I, Robot that was written down to a level where Will Smith was comfortable.

reply

That just means the robot cannot perform daily tasks without breaking itself.
