Hey this movie looks horrible horrible!

I saw the trailer twice & it looks silly. Acting so so corny from what I saw. This sould be a straight to video thing u know. Dolly Dearest is much better if anyone seen it?

95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Impressive.

You must be old.

This film is a PG-13 horror film. Teens are gonna flock to see it. It's a certified box office hit. Why on earth would it be straight to video when it's gonna rake in the dough? 'Prestigious' films like Babylon, Tar, The Fabelmans, Women Talking, The Banshess of Inisherin, Amsterdam etc, etc are what should be going straight to video. The people have spoken. M3gan > Oscar bait.

Horror is the master genre.

You already made a stupid post about a box office hit. Didn't even have to look far.

Huh?! This ridiculous movie will be a flop & it will be forgotten weeks after release.

I'm looking forward to something silly and I'm happy to watch a movie that isn't a 3 part CGI series or a comic book adaptation.

reply

I can sympathize with this viewpoint, though I have to agree with the OP that the trailer for this film does not look good.

reply

That's fair. We can't all agree. I'll let you know what I think after I see it.

reply

I will look forward to your report.

To your point about being happy it's not a huge CGI movie or a comic book film--and these days those are basically the same--I do understand what you're saying. One movie that stood out to me last year that felt "different" in that respect was Thirteen Lives, about the Thai cave incident. If you haven't seen that film, you may want to check it out.

reply

I actually want to watch that one. It has a great cast.

Okay, here's M3GAN:

There wasn't too much blood or gore. I didn't mind that due to the filmwork properly setting up the situation so you can see the situation in your mind. The use of music was smart. It's odd how they used music in scenes you wouldn't see in a horror normally. There are secondary cookie cutter characters with no development, but the primary cast was good. You get exactly what the trailer shows, so if it's not your thing, that's fine. Violet McGraw was good for a child actor.

I'll say 6/10. It's fun and you can revisit it. It's nothing amazing but that was known from the trailer.

reply

Thanks for the review. Perhaps I'll check it out once it hits streaming. About a 6/10 is what I'd say the trailer makes it look like. My thought was, "Well, it's no Child's Play." (The original Child's Play, that is.)

Im glad you enjoyed it well enough. Horror as a whole is not really my bag. I maybe watch one or two horror films per year. The last I saw was Prey for the Devil, which had some good elements but was overall disappointing. Not sure what the last horror film was that I'd say was actually GOOD. Maybe Ouija 2. Or maybe we'd have to go all the way back to The Conjuring.

Cry more Boomer. Boring horror like The Exocrist is finally dead.

reply

Stop it! The Exorcist is not boring! It has lots of meaningful subtext & the makeup was real good on the girl even by today's standards so please stop the nonsense!
