Better than Dunkirk?

I wouldn't, 1917 is far better than Dunkirk.

Dunkirk was nothing but a Michael Bay like explosionfest.

if you like the 'cinema experience'(a good war movie) than maybe 1917 is more the movie for you, I found it too much heroics for me(enough for the protagonist to win the Victoria Cross). In Dunkirk you don't even see the enemy up close(most soldiers don't) the suspense is trying to survive. The one where soldiers are hiding inside a stranded ship while bullets keep zooming in was one of the most, intense war scenes I've ever seen.

Its like saying Transformers 5 is better than Transformers 4. They are both bad. 1917's gimmick is that its filmed in one shot, which it isn't.

Dunkirk is a little better.
