This series is completely unnecessary and did not have an actual story to tell

So I mean... what was the point of this story... again?

Leia is kidnapped, but we know she is not killed and not in danger at all.

Obi-Wan is devastated about what went down 10 years earlier, receives a call to action and saves her.

And... that's it. That's the story they are telling. It's weak, pathetically structured and completely inconsequential. And they couldn't even be consistent with the other films!

I mean are we seriously to believe Obi-Wan and Vader ran into each other twice between ROTS and ANH? None of the encounters were particularly interesting, and both instances did nothing more than to cheapen the characters and the mythos around them. I mean Vader's line in ANH about "This is a presence I haven't felt since..." is a beautiful line, implying history between Obi and Darth, and even the prequels cheapened it by outright showing us what went down... but it lands much better if we imagine the 20 year gap between their duel in ROTS, and not their duel on... generic dark rocky planet #344.

Furthermore - are we seriously to believe that Obi-Wan had Anakin completely defeated not once but twice... and he did not decide to end it? I mean it was bad enough in ROTS and completely out of character for Obi-Wan to let Anakin die a horrible death burning to death, laying on the ground mutilated... But now, he knows what Vader is doing to the universe. It's his duty to stop him. He is clearly beyond saving - and he lets him go again? I mean I understand how hard it would be for him to kill him, but come on, there is clearly no other solution here - but he just leaves. WHAT?

Also - Vader spells out the line "I killed Anakin" - to server as the blatant source for him saying the same thing to Luke ("... from a certain point of view"). This is too on the nose and completely unnecessary. This was understandable even without the prequels back in 1983! Why are you insulting the intelligence of the audience???

Also - Obi-Wan is learning Vader's identity from Reva??? Freaking WHAT??? He already knew Anakin's Darth name was Vader! He cannot be that stupid not putting two and two together! Yoda warns Obi in ROTS that he is afraid Darth Vader has consumed Obi's padawan! HE KNOWS ALREADY - WHY IS THIS TREATED AS A HUGE REVELATION???

Also - How does Reva know? Maaaaybe she is sensing Vader's presence and it is the same as Anakin's force presence...? That is one explanation, but it's a bit of a stretch.

And lastly (I could go on and on, but enough for now) - Are we seriously to sympathize with Reva, a character who gets wronged by the Empire (Vader) and... joins them? Hurting innocents? Killing and hunting Jedi? All under the pretense of "she is undercover"? She might be undercover, but still decided to kill those people! What kind of f_cked up morale is this?

I really wanted to like this, but ridiculous things kept on piling up, and the overall series did nothing more than to actively hurt the SW-mythos, so... I'm erasing this from my headcanon altogether.

MacGregor is a really good actor, but was given really weak material... for shame.

Due to no one wanting to watch The Chronicles of Reva so in true Disney fashion they do the bait and switch.

Advertise a show with the main legacy characters and then switch them out for the more uninteresting secondary character no one cares about because they know the show they want won't survive on it's own.

Also a lot of streaming services have found out that they need content for people to watch. So they have to put things out reagrdless of quality so it becomes content for contents sake.

But yes nothing changed. The world that was left in Kenobi was the same as when it began. So pointless.

How could Obi Wan have killed Vader, when we already knew he survives? If Obi Wan had killed him, that would be a huge plot problem. There is talk about another season of this Obi Wan series and no doubt, that would mean more Obi Wan Vader confrontations, which is what most Star Wars fans want to see.

As far as the revelation that Vader is Anakin, yea, Obi Wan did find out then who he was, but the writers probably just forgot about it in ROTS. No biggie

Come on. You missed my point entirely.

When writing a show, especially if it takes place between two well known movies, you need to consider what to include and what not to include. The writers decided to include two confrontations (so far) between Vader and Obi. But they failed to respect the overall characters of the two, and created an awkward situation. Yes, of course Obi canonically cannot end it right then and there, but honestly... he looks like a damn fool for not doing so, given a clear chance, and knowing that Anakin doesn't exist anymore... Was it the intention of the writers to make Obi foolish? Well I guess not, but a confrontation like that can only be ending with Obi having the upper hand, and the way it is now, it is just stupid that he doesn't go for the kill, when clearly Anakin is beyond saving.

I don't know, they could have included a vision of Anakin's later redemption for Obi to see at some point. Or maybe Qui-Gon could have stopped him from killing him. At least that would have been a reason for him not doing it. But this? This is stupid.

I was with you until "No biggie", but hey! Even in Game of Thrones I was furious about the careless and lazy writing ("We kinda forgot..."), but this is Star Wars. This is about events in ROTS. Listen, I don't like the prequels, they botched a lot of things (lke A LOT of things), but what happened in them happened. And this is not even a minor event. This is about the relationship between Obi and Darth Vader. I mean come on, how could they do this? I am baffled.

The only reason this was made was to entice people with a fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader and hope they stick around to watch a show about Reva. I honestly hope they just make a dumb family friendly show about the youthful adventures of kid Leia, i'd probably actually watch that.

‘I'm erasing this from my headcanon altogether.’

Same. I wanted to like this so bad but the writing is so poor and the series overall is just very forgettable.

Rogue One and The Mandalorian are still the only Disney Wars content that I’ve truly enjoyed and I think they really need to move out of the Skywalker saga now. I’m hoping Taika Waititi’s film is set in the far future and I’m hoping Disney stop with these series that are just content for the sake of having content.

True. Rogue One was great, and at least is getting a prequel series

Maybe it should have had Obi-Wan involved in an adventure that did NOT involve (a) Princess Leia, (b) Darth Vader, and (c) DISRUPTING THE WHOLE STAR WARS CANON!!!
