(SPOILER) What a depressing premise for a kids movie.

1st of all Jumanji needs to take it easy with the cuss words.
This is a 12 and younger movie.

Teenagers are not your audience, and adults are watching for the kids.

On that note.......................

WTF.
The movie exist because a depressed teenager goes on a suicidal mission to feel like a good looking grown man, because in the real world he feels like a loser.
(Yes I get that a 18/19 year old is an adult, but grown? No.)

Putting his good friends in danger (not me) by having them go into the game to retrieve him even though they may not make it.

And then poor Grandpa and his friend have to also share in this journey because they are within distance of the video game transfer?
The fact that these 2 old fools didn't die, doesn't make any sense in this film.

I was with a little kid who wanted to see it and yes, the language bothered me some. I just assumed it was a PG movie, but I think it's PG-13. Not sure what it added to a very tame, if adventurous story.

yahh my theater had a LOT of kids and i wonder what kind of reaction they had with their parents afterward.. "daddy what's a eunuch?!"

hmm.. i am also not sure what the target audience actuaLLy is ?

If you are unable to explain to your child what an eunuch is you are not mature enough to have children.

Also, the long opening part establishing the young adults and their issue with their friend, then introducing the older guys, it just seemed like a very safe and trite and long way to get things rolling. Despite all the action and CGI, it seems like an after school special to remind us to have solid values toward our peers, but not done in a very convincing way.

I understand the problems you have with the movie, but the original Jumanji with Robin Williams has got to be one of the most depressing kids movies of all time. Judy and Peter's parents died - their whole story was dependent on them being orphaned. Not to mention that Alan's father was neglectful and told his son to man up after Alan was, presumably, beaten by multiple bullies on multiple occasions.

This movie definitely isn't perfect, but it's much more light-hearted in comparison to the original.

1st of all you have to be extremely dumb if you care about swear words.

Depressed people make stupid decisions, yes. One that had his power fantasy ripped form him when the game ended would certainly want it back just like an alcoholic would want a bottle. Its a very realistic premise, perhaps too realistic for you.

He was very clear in that he did not want his friends to follow him.

Also you do realize that Jumanji audience is adults who grew up with the original jumanji movie, right?

As far as this movie, curse words just seem out of place and forced and were unnecessary.
I enjoyed all the curse words in Casino.

I'm so glad he made it clear that he didn't want his friends to follow him, cause I guess that's what friends do? Ignore you in your time of need? Perhaps that's your reality.

And, No, No, No.
The people who watched the original as a kid can enjoy this movie as an adult, but they did not flock to the theater because they thought it had anything to do with the original.
The new Jumanji really plays towards the preteen audience.

Of course not, we rightfully though the movie was a remake, and this a sequel to the remake.
