MC Boards are proof the today's moviegoers are degenerates

No one complained about Morgan Freeman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves or him in Shawshank Redemption playing a character that was originally white. No one complained about actors like James Earl Jones or Billy Dee Williams in sci fi and fantasy epics.

Every MC board has a post complaining about minority and female characters in them. This board for Death on the Nile is no different. All this hatred on forums does is show that the average movie goes today is a low life degenerate. It goes a long way in explaining why movies are crap today. No respectable filmmaker, screenwriter or actor would want to produce decent movies anymore, since audience members are knuckle draggers.

No one complained because they were not forced and they were not stick in there because "they are black".

Same with Will Smith in "I'm legend" or "I Robot".

We just assumed that they were the best actors for the roles, not "diversity hires".

If you want to blame someone blame the media and the producers for "we need to be diverse, we need to have 250% black actors in our movies and 125% LGTVHDR+

reply

"LGTVHDR+" haha I had to signup to give thumbs up for that one :)

Also I kind of agree with you. I feel we should applaud diversity, but, putting it lightly, sometimes it does feel like Hollywood is forcing it a bit too much. On the other hand, I doubt this mediocre film would've been any better if the casting was different.

reply

Not all of them. Just the ones cranky enough to make a MC account to complain about da blacks.

So true, and
Conversely, there’s Laurence Olivier playing Othello. And Hedy Lamar playing Tondelayo in White Cargo. And Jeanne Crain playing Pinkie. And Natalie Wood playing Monique in Kings Go Forth and Maria in West Side Story. Rambo is played by Stallone when he’s supposed to be Native American. Denzel was supposed to play Brad Pitt’s role in Se7en. The list goes on.

“Hud,” 1963: Patricia Neal, a white actress, won an Oscar for her role as Alma, a sought-after housekeeper who fends off the advances of multiple men. In the book on which the movie was based, “Alma” was “Halmea,” a black woman. The movie’s screenwriter later said, “We would have loved to keep her black for the movie,” but “in those days you simply couldn’t do it.” He admitted it wasn’t “because the talent wasn’t there — there were at least a half-dozen powerhouse black actresses who could have played that role. But the times weren’t ready for it yet.”

The problem with 2022’s Death of the Nile is that it isn’t a very good movie compared to the two earlier movies.

Rambo is played by Stallone when he’s supposed to be Native American.

Rambo is said to be of Native American and German descent. And that was decided for Rambo II, based on Stallone's looks.

Denzel was supposed to play Brad Pitt’s role in Se7en.

Brad Pitt's character wasn't black or white - he was just a character on a piece of paper; race was immaterial. So this is hardly a white actor "usurping" a black role, because it wasn't a black role.

reply

Denzel was not suppose to play Brad Pitt's role. He turned down the role as Al Pacino and Robert Duvall turned down the role that went to Morgan Freeman in the movie.

knuckle draggers is a way underrated term that should be used more often
i enjoyed reading this rant

Now it goes far beyond race-swapping the occasional character. Now, every cast has to be a rainbow coalition, with at least some LBGTQA representation, regardless of how implausible it all is (e.g. set in medieval Europe)

reply

Give some examples of race swapping in a movie where the story was undermined and affected the caliber of the cast. Just curious.

X I hit submit and it does it 3x.

it wasnt a big deal back then and no one cared. now its just forced diversity, the new Survivor is an example of that.
