Who exactly are they making this movie for?

The cartoon and this movie are not made for the same audience.

reply

It was made for me to go see.

reply

My 11 year old niece wants to see it.

The cartoon has been out for quite some time, now, however. They are hoping that the tots that saw this years ago when they were 6-10 years old will now want to see this when they are 12-16 year olds. Plus, any of the younger kids who are currently watching will probably ask their parents to take them to see the big screen version, as well.

I think with the animated monkey, Swiper, etc., that this will appeal to kids in that "tweener" range.

reply

Benicio del Toro as Swiper?? Now that’s worth a ticket.

reply

Nobody! Some kids will be disappointed. 25 M on BO for such a famous character - nuff said. They made Teenage Tomb Raider instead of Dora.

reply

As Jamfo said, I think it was definitely marketed at people who enjoyed the cartoon as little kids and have grown up a bit since then. Looks like it is on its way to tripling its budget so not a big flop.

MY DAUGHTER LIKED THE SHOW.OUTGREW IT.SHE WANTS TO SEE IT..SO DO I.

reply

For people who watched Dora as a kid.

reply

Yep correct. My now 14 year old granddaughter liked it as she had watched the cartoons when she was younger.
