Russians have English accents..
That strange choice to give the Russians English accents made me turn it off 15 minutes into the first episode. I couldn't get into the story with those accents

shareThat's unfortunate you can't enjoy an amazing television show because of an accent. I am enjoying this show quite a bit, and am very happy it wasn't subtitled with Russian speaking.
shareThey should have got some Slavic actors speaking English with an accent. Or at the very least have some American speaking actors talking Murican. English accents only belong in James Bond they are annoying anywhere else. I wanted to watch this movie but after hearing about this I think I am gonna wait for it to hit the pirate bay

You're missing a really brilliant series, Nirvana. Sometimes you just have to overlook minor defects.
😎
I could have enjoyed it either way. It's a brilliant series.

That is kind of odd, but it's still a brilliant series. Sometimes you just have to accept some minor defects.

Your loss. This is nothing new. "The Duellists" (1977), "The Fourth Protocol" (1987), "The Hunt for Red October" (1990), "The Count of Monte Cristo" (2002), and many, many more feature English-speaking actors playing foreign characters who are understood to be speaking in those characters' native languages, and the actors deliver their lines in English, in their own real accents. Usually directors choose to do it that way because it can sound cartoonish, and detract from the story. I believe that was exactly the rational given for this miniseries. If you let a little thing like this bother you, you're letting a trivial detail deprive you of a lot of very good entertainment.
shareLike the ancient Greeks, Romand and Hebrews ... all the classic Western civilizations must speak in a hoity-toity English accent. ;-)
I guess this now includes Russians.
What difference does it make?
shareWell then you’ve missed out big time! Brilliant series.
shareI agree, they should have had German accents instead.
shareMaking the English actors use Russian accents would have sucked big time.
They made the right choice.
