who is a better actor brad pitt or leonardo decaprio?

brad pitt

OUATIH is by far Pitts best performance to date.

Both were excellent here, but Brad Pitt was just Brad Pitt. Meanwhile, Leo was Rick Dalton.

Leo, but not by much

Difficult question, but after seeing this movie, I remember what a great actor Pitt actually is. So Pitt.

Who the fuck is leonardo decaprio?

In this film? Pitt. Not that DiCaprio was bad or anything, but Pitt rocked this one hard.

I'd say Brad Pitt does a better job at 'disappearing' into his roles and is better at playing a wider range of roles...

... but ...

In this movie, there is that one scene where Dicaprio is playing the villainous gunslinger in the TV-show-within-the-movie... the one where he tosses the little girl to the floor. She gets up and tells him that's the best acting she's ever seen and he tears up.

Me, I thought he was fantastic in that scene too.

Here's the thing... in that scene he was playing an actor who was trying to pull out all the stops in playing that scene-within-a-movie. In order for us to see that intensity that meant for the rest of the movie he had to underact so that we could see the difference. That impressed the hell out of me. He had to be convincing enough to sell us on the idea that he was this fading actor of mediocre talent, but still capable of an electric performance when it was called for so that we could see the difference.

So maybe I've been underestimating Dicaprio's abilities?

Sidebar: Henry Fonda was known mostly for his righteous everyman roles when he took on the overseas role of the villain in Once Upon a Time in the West. He had his doubts about whether he would be believable in the role. The first time we see him in the movie the camera pulls up slowly to his face. His eyes are cold af as he casually pulls out his gun and shoots a boy. So, yeah, he could pull it off.

Maybe that was the inspiration for this bit within OUATIH.
