Did not enjoy season 4

Tough watch. Overly dramatic, many scenes were incredibly drawn out. The constant zoom in on Elizabeth Moss' face is extremely annoying. Did not enjoy Aunt Lydia's arc in this. It's as if the writers did not know what to do with her.

Bradley Whitford is always a highlight. Loved McKenna Grace in this. She is a superstar.
I love June and Nick's love story. It is beautiful.

Kind of hard to believe there is a season 5 to come. They need to wrap this series up.

This is a good show, but season 4 was disappointing.

First of all, this season flew by. I agree with most of your points. Aunt Lydia's clawing back to her position was a good storyline but too short. McKenna deserved more material.

I'm glad they changed the settings but , it just wasn't that compelling.

Has a major character died yet? Or are there still no stakes in the show?

reply

Yes, a few "regulars" and a major character died this season.

Took 4 seasons? Better late than never I guess....

Wait, who? 🤔

I agree that things like June being recaptured and escaping yet again, her surviving an airstrike, and later being given unsupervised access to a pregnant Serena Joy, were ridiculous. The show went too far with her character’s plot armour - it made it impossible to suspend disbelief.

It also made the structure of Gilead confusing by suddenly moving Commander Lawrence, Aunt Lydia, and Nick into prominent positions of power. However, some of this seems to be due to the show setting up it’s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s recent sequel novel, ‘The Testaments’.

Totally agree with all your points. I found it so drawn out. Season 4 could’ve been half the episodes. I really liked the first three seasons and was looking forward to the fourth one. I’m not even sure I’m going to bother with season five. I got onto Hulu again just for the series and I’m not sure if it’s going to be worth it in about a year. Sometimes these season shows just drag on and on if they’re popular only to make the people more money and they are not that great.

The constant zoom of June's facial expressions must be an attempt for an Emmy.

This season had a lot of sloppy writing. Many scenes were not realistic.
