Numbers are coming in from China and Captain Marvel is having a fantastic start in china...heading toward a 90 to 100 M+ OW in china...

Obviously its earlier...but this is quickly starting to look like a Billion + movie...

Overseas numbers for MCU films are always similar....The only real box office that Makes a difference in an MCU film making 700 to 800 M and 1 B+ is the domestic and China box office...

and right now, CM is performing domestically and in China similar to Other Billion + MCU films

it seems the absolute FLOOR for CM is 800 M+ now...

350 Million domestic is the floor.

150 M in China in the floor

300 Million in all remaining markets overseas is the floor...

thats 800 M+ as an absolute minimum...

and you an almost guarantee higher total in all 3 categories...

somehow Marvel Studios took a C List female character in Captain Marvel and Is going to beat DCs Ultimate A List female character Wonder Woman in Every way....

astonishing Marvel Studios and CM did it without any of the added benefits Wonder Woman had...

Wonder Woman had the advantage of being introduced in an event level movie in BvS, benefited from a Massive womens movement getting behind the film...

CM had none of these advantages and still is going to beat Wonder Woman in every way...

PS....I only added the Wonder Woman part for 3 posters(Queen, Lady and bubba) everyone else just focus on the important part, the box office part...

yes its immature, but hey when some makes a thread titled "This aint No Wonder Woman" and then goes into detail why CM has no shot to at matching Wonder Woman's opening weekend....call me immature but I cant help but then rub it in when ummmmmmm CM proves to be "MORE THAN Wonder Woman"

not 155 to 160 M...no those were mid day....

This is updated, late night....160 Million is the number....

this is so brutal for you...

first because you;ve made dozens of posts claiming Bo.coms 160 Projection was absurd and was never going to be right

and 2nd because even as of today, you repeatedly claim CM would top 150 or 160 M

Numbers from OW in China are not that impressive. This is a special weekend in China. It's like comparing a Thanksgiving weekend with common weekends.

And it was predictable that it had such a strong start worldwide. There's no competition right now, so everybody who wanted to see the movie is watching it this weekend. But longer term, the total numbers will suffer because of the backlash.

I don't think this movie will make 1B. I keep my original bet: 800M.

CM is completely exceeding expectations, Everyone is surprised and very impressed by its Chinese numbers

please do just a little research before embarrassing yourself.

A 90 to 100 Million + OW for a debuting character thats never been in a motion picture before is INCREDIBLE...for comparison Wonder Woman's TOTAL gross in China was 90M

as for your completely absurd excuses of trying to say CM is performing well because of no competition....

6 of the last 8 MCU films have opened over 115 M, made 300 M+ domestically and Made 850 M+ WW...

it has nothing to do with when the movie was released...

its simply, after going 20 for 20 with Successful MCU films, Marvel Studios has built a Massive Audience....that audience is clearly showing up to the tune of consistent 115 Million + openings...

as for backlash, that entirely speculation...as of right now there no way I can know if your wrong or right....but theres also no way you can claim its true YET....your entitled to your opinion..

me, I'm looking at the data and the data is showing there doesnt seem to be 1 thing pointing to backlash or the film not having good holds...

Its getting Good reviews, good Audience Scores, got a very good "A" cinemascore.

if you hanging your hat on the film falling off a cliff, IMO your going to be disappointed...

but as I said, This film could literally DIE, Literally have all time Awful drops and its still topping 800 M now....

If this films even has average holds...Its probably nearing 1 Billion...

You are drastically under estimating CM's performance in China....most were expecting a 95 to 110 Million total for its ENTIRE run....

between CM's over performance on Opening weekend which will lead to at minimum 350 to 400 M + domestically and Its Over performance in China which will lead to at minimum 150 M+

800 Million is now the FLOOR

you can try all you want to down play CM's box office....but just know YOU ARE in a PARTY of one....there wont be a single box office site or analyst agreeing with you or writing anything other than CMs box office is amazing....

there are time when giving up is the only of curse of action....at this point, there is no spinning CMs box office....your best course of action is to simply admit its doing fantastic take the "L"

I've had to do the same thing before....when Solo came out, Its box office was so drastic low, There was no defending it or trying to spin it...fighting it could only result in Embarrassment, I immediately admitted I was wrong and congratulated people I was arguing with on being right...

that is the only course of action you, queen, Lady and Bubba have....trying to fight CM's box office can only result in embarrassment for you...

just admit the film exceeded your expectations and END the Suffering...

Hell if your anger, start trolling on Its quality...reviews are good but not great...start claiming "It may be doing great at the box office but its not a great movie"

2. If that massive audience reduced because of the backlash, having no competition would hide it the opening weekend, being only clear in the medium term, when the movie starts to reach their final totals WW. You have the opinion the movie is going to nose dive because of backlash....right now that is ONLY your opinion without a shred of data or evidence to back that up...

If CM has a drop in its 2nd second Larger than 58 to 62%....than You'll finally have some data to back your opinion up...

The average drop for CBM's in their 2nd weekend is 58 to 62%....CM's drop has to be worse than that for your Backlash Opinion to have any proof behind it

and again Your "No Competition" excuses is simply you not understanding box office...

When OVER 75% of the films Marvel Studios has released in the last 3 years have TOPPED 115 M+ on opening weekend....thats simply an established Audience...

Its doesnt matter when these MCU films are opening or what they are opening against....They are consistently opening massive and Over 115 M +

Well than let's focus on the quality of the movie than... it's so dull and bland that comparing it to Wonder Woman is just embarrassing, Wonder Woman is a vastly superior film in every way...in fact some people are concerned that the quality of Marvel movies are on the decline and that future of Marvel movies may be in question, in fact the quality of Disney in general is on the decline with early speculations pointing to Dumbo and Aladdin not fairing well at the box office with Aladdin be slammed brutally for the visual effects of the Genie. So in conclusion don't go bragging about box office numbers cause they don't mean dick f the movie doesn't have quality to back it up shit stain.

i haven't seen captain marvel yet, so no comments from me on that one, but if you break out the mcu films by their phases, or simply look at them sequentially, i think there's a clear pattern of improvement. certainly some variation, some are inevitably better than others, but when i look at the stretch of films from the past three years - civil war through the ant-man sequel, that is a consistently fun, entertaining stretch of films. i'd say the guardians sequel is the weakest, and that's still a fine film in my books.

that level of consistency is not something to be dismissed lightly. i won't speak to the disney films outside of the mcu because they're not really my kinds of movies & i tend not to watch them, but i think it's usually a good rule to try to look past any recent variations, whether positive or negative, and look at long term trends.
