So how bad was this movie?

I decided against seeing it, even though Han Solo was one of the best characters in the original SW movies. Is it really as disappointing as everyone says?

reply

I refused to see it for three reasons:

1.) There was some perfectly good source material in the form of the "Han Solo Trilogy" books, which told extensively about his background in a way that was canon for the rest of the Star Wars universe. But of course, since it was Disney being run by that feminazi Kathleen Kennedy, they threw those books out the window just like they did the rest of the EU.

2.) I had ZERO interest after hearing that Lando was a pansexual or that there was a bitchy feminist droid in the film.

3.) Like I mentioned in another thread, after the disaster of "The Last Jedi," I had very low expectations for this film, and have chosen not to watch any more Disney-made Star Wars films.

It's not absolutely terrible, there was plenty of action and some of the supporting characters were okay, I was mildly entertained in the theater. If it hadn't had some kid trying to be Han Solo and failing in every frame, I might have actually liked it.

It wasn't terrible. I recently saw this comment on Reddit that I mostly agree with:

I'm still convinced that if Solo was launched before TLJ, it would have been a major box office success.

Solo has flaws, but it never broke the suspension of disbelief (Space Leia). It was immersive. It was a narrative meant to be enjoyed by all. But it came after TLJ....

TLJ broke too many things : the continuity of Star Wars, to say the least (lightspeed travel can be weaponized now)...

While I still don't think it would have been a "major box office success", it would have profited a respectable $50-100 million instead of losing $100-200 million.

I just watched it and I loved it. It's on Netflix so I'll probably watch it again.

I agree, is it just me or does Woody Harrelson just show up in just about everything? It wasn´t terrible but just a really bland movie and Ehrenreich was just miscast as Solo.
