An episode that is chronologically set between 3 and 4 would be 3.5, or three-point-whatever (3.x) if you want to leave room for future episodes set between 3 and 4.

shareNo. There are infinite numbers between 3 and 4 (and there are infinite numbers in general, for that matter). Star Wars (1977) was established as episode 4 in 1981, and Revenge of the Sith was established as episode 3 in 2005. An episode that takes place between 3 and 4 is episode 3.x. It can't be episode 4 because there already exists an episode 4, obviously.
